With regards "personal space", I think I would have to have 2 little "sheds" not far from the front door of the tiny home - one for me, and one for husband - just a little space to go to to sit/read/youtube/knit/sew/paint etc

you're a great guy and i see you struggling out there because of your weight. I am also a fat man, but used to be a lot bigger; i never tought i could lose weight and be healthy but i did. There was no big secret for me, i moved to the farm so i could do some exercises and do something every day for 1-2 hours. In my diet i still eat as a pig but i dont drink alcohol anymore , i drink a big glass of water before any meal and i eat a cucumber or tomato salad at every meal, i eat a boul of salad and a lot of meat and i have slowly lost weight and didn't put it back. I dont eat procesed food anymore and only 2 slices of bread a day

We just started building ours and it’s a lot but definitely worth it. We absolutely love it. Living in it without insulation was the biggest mistake but we will get to it.

Stop complaining be appreciative that you have a roof above your head. Also you should have thought abt the pros and cons before getting yourself a container home. Now that you have a container home you have 2 choices live there or get another place... Stop complaining and be appreciative...

For cell phone signal get a booster. It draws the signal from the outside to the inside. For internet, get starlink and run the wire from the satellite to the modem via a drilled hole.

Thanks for the 1-yr feedback! Many people want to do this - I used to be one. While watching, I got to thinking: Could you install another unit... My first thought was parallel to the current one, on the other side of the smoker/picnicking area. If nothing else, just extra sleeping space could be installed, and it'd amplify the potential of that outdoor space. I admire that you'all took the plunge! Good luck with the critters.... that's personally what I hate the most. Little destroyers.

Split 2 apart and center is 2 story. Over 1700sqft. 65k. Or buy a badass used quality RV and park under the awning. If settling is a problem, hire a pro. I've been building stuff like this for years. All pipes, including sewage, exterior with access on outside wall. Air conditioning is same, run everything accessable. I recently added another 2 20ft highs, just for a kitchen. Some folks like easy and DIY, NO! , hire someone to do it for you. BTW, metal frame and panels, cheaper than the conainer(s). 65k vs 350k. Land, your choice! I live on acreage. The deal is, screw the dinner parties and travel. Folks forget about seeing the land and you only live once. I had one neighbor, a mile away across pasture, talk shit. He found out his paychecks are through MY corporations! You dream it and build it. Kids are grown up, mom and pop time. Cocktails and sunsets!

This is just my experience and hopefully not everyone has had these problems. I've lived in two different homes & each were new builds that have pocket doors. Within 10 years each of those pocket doors had already become extremely hard to open and close.

I’ve got to say, all of your problems could have been solved by a rudimentary understanding of construction, and the e limitations of the type of home you purchased…

The pocket doors can be sanded to where there is no more friction and repainted. You can put a dowel on both sides of the door 2 at the top and 2 at the bottom so the doors won't wabble when opening and closing.

The lot is big enough to build you man cave whst they call it, do so, you will be happy having your very own space to retreat. Same your wife, she can build her very own she shed. They don't have to be shipping containers if you don't want to fill the lot with them, but a shed for you and a shed for her would be great so you and her can have another place to go to when you want me time. As far as the gofer or whatever critter that wants to invade your property, you can research ways you can repell them from your property. Living in either a container or a tiny home is not for everyone. Again, if you own a big piece of property, you can get 2 or more containers, put them side by side cut holes to go from one to the other or just build your own home as big or as small as you want it. You can build it as fast as a couple of months or as slow as a couple of years. In the meantime you will get o used to your container home, every issue will dissappear.

For the wall issues you can buy 4x4s and nail them on the floor against the wall so you don't have to nail anything around the existing studs. You can put as many 4x4s as needed and to cover them you can have nice plywood over them, pegboard to hang things on, add shelves or cabinets. Whatever you need.

Hi, this is the first time I watch your video. I know it's a big adjustment from a house to a container. Most people don't have any idea of what it's like. I've never lived in a container but wish someday I will be able to live in a remote place where I can build my space. I've seen plenty of DIY container homes people make. With that said, I have a couple of suggestions. If you have the money you can expand the square footage. 1. You can buy a container just for storage. That will fix the storage situation. Depending where you live, you will be able to buy it close to where you live and either pick it up or have it delivered. You don't have to do anything to it just paint and cover any holes it may have. Same holds true for guests you can get 2 containers to be put side by side. Cut either 1 or 2 openings to join them together and build them from the ground up. It will cost you some money but at least you will custome make it to fit your guests needs or you can make it for yourself and have the guests stay over the house you already live in.

The answer is so simple. Buy two 52 foot containers (high cube would be preferred) place the containers on pads with 10-20 feet apart. Build roof over the span and end walls with barn doors. You'll have a 52' X 24 (34 if 20' apart)

I hadn't thought about how metal can impact cell service. I'm an avid tiny home fanatic but don't love container homes because I think they're overhyped. Have you tried a wifi booster? I don't know how you would get one in the USA but here in Australia they're readily available, and they enhance your signal in other areas of the home. So you can keep your hotspot where it is and then pop your booster wherever you need it most.
