I remember loving the sound of Garfield Goose’s beak when he’talked’ and the other goose (I don’t remember the name). Guess they’d call that ASMR today.

It's really good to hear things through Debby.. She had a hard time with the step-mother, being cut out of his world. She obviously doted on her Dad, and it must have been hard to be sliced out of things in order to get some other people put in front.. Good luck Debby.

Why don't you make this into a video so we can broadcast this on our PEG TV channels? Add titles, credits, etc. so everyone knows what this is about, then post it for other PEG channels.

Seriously, Kenosha is a massively under-appreciated town. Fantastic location, remarkably unique/diverse/interesting population, all kinds of events and things to do. I did not expect the vibe to be so positive, but it really, really is. Whereas my current ciity (Chicago) has sadly turned pretty bitter and fearful, Kenosha has a certain spark that makes me believe it has a bright future. I'll be back.

I grew up in Arkansas and it was the best place to grow up. I grew up with country music and still love it best today. I loved Glen Campbell as a little girl in the 70's and 80's and still listen to him today:)

I had the unique pleasure of being on the golf course with Glen on seven occasions over the years and riding around in the golf cart with him he would sing parts of songs to me and shoot the breeze. He was as down-to-earth and humble as they come, full of good humor, yet he could be serious at times and confide things that were sometimes surprising. He was also a gentleman. One time he took such an abrupt turn in the golf cart I almost fell out and he stopped, got out, and ran around to the other side to pick up some things he saw that had fallen out of my pocket! We both had a laugh about that. Also, when we'd encounter fans who recognized him, he would hand ME his beer. He was unfailingly polite to autograph seekers. He was just an all around great guy, immense talent and PERFECTIONIST without being overbearing. One time I took a pocket tape recorder along with me and recorded our chat and him singing to me in the golf cart. Years later I connected with him again by phone when I found out where he was staying during his book promo tour. His then-wife answered the phone and asked my name, and when she told him who I was, he immediately came on the line and said "How ya doin' 'Lair'?" (His nickname for me, Larry). He wanted to know all that I had been up to and right away started talking religion. Glen Campbell was a true original and although my own Mother suffered from Alzheimer's for 9-1/2 years and I took care of her in my home, I know how important it is for such patients to be reminded of familiar things and especially faces. To deprive some of Glen's adult children from seeing their dad when he was in a hospice facility is, frankly, cruel beyond words for all concerned.

Kenosha still has cable access. Why isn't there more acknowledgement? This is a great asset and why isn't more being done? Are there new programs? Seriously, why isn't this being pushed more. I think people have forgotten the greatness of cable access where local people promote local stuff. Seriously, this needs to be made more available.

Boy, I sure am bummed I missed this, I would have been there in a heartbeat. I related to everything he talked about. Would have been so cool to be with others that remember this show as fondly as I do. I have a Garfield Goose hand puppet I bought 25 years ago at the Lake County flea market, pretty decent shape, just missing the crown. Hope there’s another event that I’ll hear about in advance that I could attend.

I have taken care of all kinds of people with Alzheimer's for many years as a nurse. We do not know what he was like with his illness we shouldn't judge the wife on her decision. Alzheimer's people can have difficulty sleeping, can be up all night, can become very aggressive and very very difficult to keep at home. It must have been a very difficult decision for her.

Glen wanted to keep going... ...nothing really to do with Kim. He insisted, & Ashley, etc were with him all the way around the world, which was a highlight for him & them in his career.
@peggygrittini7495 Жыл бұрын
I too am a nurse, and I must agree with the other nurse's comment. Maybe Kim would have loved having him at home but just couldn't. People with Alzhiemers do much better in controlled settings, where there is routine, and the care givers are usually the same from day to day, and they are trained to care for them. These units have a team approach to their care, so it's not one person in collaboration with the doctor making decisions, it's nurses, social workers, therapist's etc that would collaborate with Kim and the doc so that he could be his best self. It's easy to judge when you've never been in someone else's shoes. Everyone is different, no two people with Alzhiemers is the same either . It's not easy tovwatch your loved one deteriorate from day to day,. Caregiver RolevStrain is a big issue when caring for someone at home too. She may have needed the support that a facility provides. One last thought, I'd bet money that Glen and Kim had discussions early into the disease process about what he wanted, and their best approach for his care. im sure she did her best for him.
