Some really odd calls & comments from the ref. Why say “don’t stop” when there was clearly an issue that both fencers saw. & the first video review was Tolba’a for sure

Well, I don’t know any restrictions for athletes, but usually about 70 people take part in zonal championships (this is not 15 😅 like in Africa)

From the FIE's point of view, it seems to me that it would be reasonable either to immediately stop holding this tournament in this region due to the lack of the necessary level of fencing in it, or to change the rules according to which more athletes cannot participate

there are no restrictions on who can participate: any African country can send up to four people to each event. There's just not a lot of fencing in Africa

this is a classic example of why modern fencing is illogical and sucks to watch. they face each other with their blades facing up in the air. this no longer has any relation to how swordman of bygone eras faced each other. shame shame shame. crap on crap on crap. in my day we called it a hack artist.

Agreed, I would give attack right here or at best simultaneous. Only thing left has here is being slightly ahead off the line, moving first after "allez" which you can only see at very slow motion. But that should be completely irrelevant as there is a clear intention to attack immediately from right too.
