Any way to stop floor tag from moving every time the floor boundary is edit please?
@davidbosch246 Жыл бұрын
Those arent cross sections those are 3dpoly lines. All you would need to do is connect the breaks using 3dpoly. I am sorry your video didnt do what the title said.

is there a way to have to points IDs on the points as well ?

Not sure you can do that in AutoCAD. It’s very easy in Civil3D, though.

Thanks for the video. Could you look at part L and the Irish regs please when you can
@CADandStuff Жыл бұрын
I don’t have a video specifically for the Irish Part L. You can use the techniques in my videos and apply them to the current (changeable) regulations easily enough. The main thing to consider is the overall u-value for the fabric element and the item itself. How the u-value is achieved is less important (e.g. the thickness of each material is up to you, so long as the overall value is at or below the regulation value).

I don't have levels, so tried with easting and northing only points and tried to paste in autocad the way you did but nothing appears? any idea what to do?

It should work with just the X and Y values as long as you follow my method but leave out the final comma and Z value.

Yes, anywhere you see me working on ventilation in my videos, that is natural ventilation. Have a look at those.

I want to be able to compare survey level to design level/ datum level. For instance i want to survey a slab and find out what the difference is compared to our design finish level. I will be grateful if you can make a video on this. Keep up the good work!!!
@CADandStuff Жыл бұрын
Sounds like what you want to do is pretty much what is shown in this (and its related) video tutorial. The main thing is that to get a volume between 2 surfaces, you have to have 2 surfaces to begin with. If one of them does not exist yet in reality, you simply create it using the feature line method. Then you can create a surface based volume, using grading as normal. Just have a think about the side slopes, though: for example, if you want to get a volume of cut and you intend to dig straight down, then the grade slopes will not be 1:1 or 1:2.

As a new user to AutoCAD LT 2023, I have found this video invaluable. I have been trying to find an answer to this question for sometime. I have had some training on AutoCAD from a work colleague, I have found it a little difficult to pick up. This video, almost exactly does what I need, enabling me to understand the overall scale of a drawing from a PDF import, thank you so much. You now have a new subscriber as a result of your now six year old video! I only hope that when I fire up autoCAD, 2023 in the morning, I’m able to find the commands you used, as mine is a much newer version from the one which you demonstrated. Hopefully not too much is changed. Brilliant video thank you so much.

error- invalid selection point, importing topo survey data from CAD file. i don't know how to deal with it. I need to calculate cut and fill analysis
@CADandStuff Жыл бұрын
When you say importing topo survey data, are you talking about 3D points in an AutoCAD drawing or a survey file in Civil3D?
@vryoung5842 Жыл бұрын
@@CADandStuff I got it done then, the problem was that points were actually block references in autocad , I had to convert them first to points. Thanks anyways ☺
@millivanilli48252 жыл бұрын
very appreciated video. However let me know please if I got it clearly: The braek line option ''proximity'' is used to fix triangles crossing abreak line in order it doesn't give you error message ?
@CADandStuff2 жыл бұрын
Not quite. You usually shouldn’t be getting an error message when creating break lines. If you are, then I suggest searching up the specific error code. “Proximity” type break line just means that the break line itself does not have to have vertices that are snapped to surface points. (Although to be honest, in my experience I would have surveyed points in the field that I wanted to use as break line vertices later on, so even though I’m in the habit of using “proximity” type, I wouldn’t necessarily have to use it my own survey drawings).

If I need to get a quick and dirty layout I use google maps. I print screen including the scale, import it into CAD then scale the google image using a reference line. It makes general layouts and estimates pretty easy and gives you a good idea of the footprint of a project.
