Very nice video. Well done! Just wondering if the double sided tape that holds the the screen to the case can be reused. I noticed it had tabs on it that could be used to pull it out from behind the case. Ordinary double-sided tape would not have those tabs. Thanks again!

Is it possible to replace the plastic besels with one that has thinner bezels?
@dangangalaxy97595 күн бұрын
List of things you'll need based on the video (mainly for my own sake): - T5 screwdriver - Pry tool (to open the casing of the laptop) - Pressurized air spray OR fine brush (to clean fans) - Precision tweezers - Phillips screwdriver - Plastic scraping tool (for thermal past removal) - Toothbrush - Denatured alcohol (to clean card and CPU) - 0.5mm thermal pads - Artic MX-4 thermal compound paste - Electrical tape OR conductive silver tape (can be bought from Home Depot)

Hello Comptechnyc! I have the AN515-55-50J3 version of Acer Nitro 5 and the LCD is flickering. I have the B156HAN13.0 120Hz eDP1.4 but the shop sent me N156HRA-EA1 144Hz eDp1.3. Will it work? Both has 40 pins. The main difference is the Hz and the eDP. I don't need the higher Hz to be honest. I just want to replace the screen.
@comptechnyc8 күн бұрын
well, one way to find out it to plug it in and see if it works. as long as they both have the same connection, and both of them physically fit you should be fine. About the refresh rate, that depends more on the GPU than the screen, if it supports a higher refresh rate, if not it will output at 120Hz as the original

You won't cause a short circuit with 99% isopropyl alcohol. Just an FYI
@comptechnyc10 күн бұрын
Essentially, a 99% is considered as a very poor conductive liquid, due the very low percentage of water, but that does not mean it's a dielectric fluid, there's still a very small chance it can cause a short. So why take any chances?

Hi. I've tried many of the U-tube video "tricks" and mine simply won't charge or come on. I've tried disconnecting the battery and plugging in the charger and still get nothing. It's a new charger I just bought from Best Buy. I can't find a CMOS battery and don't even see any ram sticks. My unit is a Lenovo Chromebook S340-14 Touchscreen only 4.5 years old but rarely used. I ordered a new main battery and it should be here Friday. Hopefully somehow that will fix it
@comptechnyc15 күн бұрын
Chromebooks are built different, think of them as a tablet in a laptop shape. They won't have a bios battery, not removable Ram- most of them also have a soldered in solid state drive. This video does not apply to Chromebooks unfortunately.

Thank you for responding. So you think a new battery will help or is it trash? @@comptechnyc

I was skeptical that this simple fix would solve the problem with my Yoga 6 but it worked! This is my first Lenovo and I never had such a problem with other brands. Why they haven’t fixed this bug by now I do not know.
@GerardCross-r4y17 күн бұрын
My yoga 7i wouldn't start even after disconnecting the battery and pressing start for 60s. Rather than remove the internals to disconnect the CMOS, I put the reassembled and battery-connected laptop in a sealed box with a hot damp cloth (not touching the laptop obviously) to see if a humid atmosphere could dissipate the static buildup that seems to be the cause of this problem. It took less than an hour to fix itself!

Voller Service.

I just want to say thank you very very much for your video.I followed it step by step and I replaced my keyboard. I did not find it an easy task to do, because you can easily damage any component in the laptop and then its more gas on fire. I am happy I came across your video & you doing steps in real time. Thank you for keeping the video online even if it has been 5 years. Thank you for helping another person. Today I sleep happy because I manage to salvage the computer. Wish you the very best. RG

Just finished this install, and i have to say, why the fuck does apple not just screw-mount their batteries. They just don’t want amateurs doing this job and they want their $500 service repair
@mattwatkins105327 күн бұрын
Just finished my install, went great and working all sweet. I’ll admit, the apple batteries are ridiculously sticky even with using 100% isopropyl alcohol they still were hard to remove. Upon removal your battery went in perfectly and very easily, no issue at all. I had once circumstance at the end when I plugged in my laptop to power and turned my laptop on and it all booted up, but the computer wouldn’t survive on its battery, I then instantly went to the ribbon cable on the left and re-latched it properly as i must not have anchored it properly, then I was all good after that. Thanks for the quick delivery, hoping this battery can last me another 8+ years

I had this issue, for me, it was he ribbon cable on the left under the fan, I thought I had slotted it in and clipped the lever over properly but it must not have made the connection. If this does not solve your problem, try the other ribbon cable on the right of the main battery T5 screw

I would also lube the fan axle while at it. Once the metal cover of that fan assembly is removed, its just one smootth pull with no effort and pulls right out (as far as i can tell from both my laptop CPU GPU fans).
@comptechnycАй бұрын
Some of the fans are actually sealed, meaning you cannot remove the fan assembly from the motor without damaging it. If it doesn't come out easy don't try to pull on it. If it does come off, then definitely add lube to the shaft as well.
@RayRay-jt4wvАй бұрын
it's a bummer this NUC fan assembly was sealed version, both my laptop fans was not sealed each had 3 tiny screws and cover was off, it was serviceable and no pull or pry difficulties. Then again ... if it's your personal hardware, you 'probably could' break those tiny plastic welds and service them and weld it back or put new holes and new m.1 screws..😊
