honestly? i’m quite surprised by the negative reactions I’ve seen to this selection. while none of the songs (currently) are as good as armenia’s internal songs, a lot of them have potential and with revamps i could see do very well in the final. and in terms of the general song quality in depi evratesil, this is easily the strongest edition (i followed 2018 & 2020). whilst not being my winner, i think the best option is probably “prayer” by flora. easily the song with the most potential, and in its current form i think it would be a sure qualifier. however “wild” and “daqueenation” would also be quite good options for the contest.

what an amazing saturday! my favs won in 2 nfs this weekend (🇺🇦🇱🇻) and my 2nd place won in 2 others (🇲🇹🇫🇮) here are my opinions on the chosen songs: 🇫🇮 - WOW. i already loved the song but that performance in UMK was absolutely incredible. we all knew that erika was winning this, and this is easily a massive upgrade from 2024. excited to see how this works onstage in basel 🇮🇪 - unfortunately this was the only song in eurosong i didn’t like. and it won 😭. i don’t really know what else to say. the performance was fun, but i can’t rank it much higher when i unfortunately don’t enjoy the song 🇱🇻 - the result tonight i was most happy with! last week i was worried they weren’t winning. this is easily my second favourite latvian entry (behind sudden lights - they were robbed) and seeing latvian back in the contest is a delight! the strongest performance by far in supernova and i think we’ll be seeing them in the finals this year 🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️ 🇲🇹 - i was convinced we were getting a kantera win, and i still can’t believe kant is an actual eurovision song now 😭. miriana conte the icon you are, i hope we see malta qualify in may 🇺🇦 - despite being quite low here, i do enjoy the song. the performance also really elevated it a lot to me as both the ziferblat singer and the backing vocalists were amazing vocally. i wish to see this get some revamp though to help improve it and make it a stronger entry, but regardless ukraine is qualifying this year. and they really deserve it

before anything, i need to mention how impressive the production of this years mesc is! i saw clips from semi 1 and watched semi 2 and they’ve put so much work into it and it definitely shows! obviously a major improvement from last years shows this is actually a very good final! i’m personally devastated that “365” didn’t qualify, but all of my other favs did 🙂‍↕️. from my observations it seems that it’s between “lalaratatakeke lalaratakabum”, “għażliet”, “festa” as the main contenders, and “kant” and “heaven sent” as outsiders. i’d be fine with any of these songs winning, although of course festa is easily the weakest of the five for me. for qualification, their best chance in my opinion is with kantera or miriana. għażliet and heaven sent both have some chances to qualify imo, but i don’t think festa would do well at all. nevertheless, i’m excited for the show tonight and i hope malta choose well!

im not really sure what’s happened to denmark in the contest lately, but their selection has often been quite weak in my opinion and this year is no exception. while i would love to see denmark qualify again, their only realistic chance for that this year in my opinion is with “hallucination” by sissal, easily the strongest song in this lineup. with a good staging and performance this could do amazing in the contest as for who i think will win, from what i’ve seen it’ll likely be either sissal who wins or tim schou with “proud”. based on this, i think it’s obvious who i would prefer 😭

well, to be honest the only song i really enjoyed from this heat were my top 2. but im pretty sure in melfest the later heats always end up being stronger song wise, so im not particularly worried yet regarding the quality i’m glad “hush hush” by meira omar at least qualified to the second chance. last year for me was awful in terms of my heat winners doing well, so it was a nice change 🙂‍↕️ i hope she’s successful there too. “upp i luften” was also incredibly robbed, i’m so surprised it didn’t go to the final. regarding the qualifiers, “kamikaze life” and “voice of the silent” are both okay songs. i expected john to qualify, but maja surprised me a lot. her performance was good, but I still wasn’t expecting a good result if im honest

another very good heat to be honest! i really think if some of these songs had been in an earlier show they could’ve qualified for the final first things first. liepa was absolutely robbed, “ar mylėtum” is a brilliant song with an amazing performance and she definitely deserved to go through. i’m not too bothered by “freedom” as a song, but amoralu has an incredible voice. i don’t think she’ll win but i do hope we see her again as with a stronger song she has real potential. but my absolute favourite so far is “tavo akys” from katarsis. i had no idea what to expect as i go into the heats without hearing the songs, but it’s already one of my favourite songs of the season. the performance was incredible, and songwise this is definitely the best in the final. i’ll wait to see who my winner is until after this weeks show, but if nothing beats their song then i really hope we see katarsis in basel

supernova still remains as one of my favourite selections this year! the song quality has been unbelievably good and latvia still has so many great options in the final personally i’m still devastated over the “zelts” non qualification, my second favourite song this year and i would’ve loved to see it qualify. from the final, the best choice for me is obviously “bur man laimi” by tautumeitas. a clear stand out song and performance, which could bring latvia an amazing result. “sadzejot” by tepat would also be an amazing result though both the “ramtai” and “līgo” performances unfortunately disappointed me a bit, meanwhile “delusional” and “romance isn’t dead” surprised me in a positive way. while i wouldn’t like to see the latter song at eurovision, it has grown on me a bit. based on the results halfway through voting, i feel like it could come down to that or “heartbeat” by emilija, and i think both would unfortunately struggle at the contest. nevertheless, i’m still really excited for the show on saturday and i hope latvia pick well!

not surprised by any of these results tbh. all 3 of the songs that won tonight i predicted would 🇧🇪 - my favourite in the belgian selection so i’m very glad to see it won. this has HUGE potential in basel and i can see why they’re winning in the odds currently. red sebastian is a great performer as well 🇪🇸 - she’s a great performer, but as much as i want to enjoy the song it feels a bit too dated unfortunately. would love to see this get a revamp though to help it, because her performance in the final was incredible 🇸🇮 - well this is. disappointing. i expected klemen’s win, and have wanted him at esc for a while, but not with a song like this. the performance in the selection as well felt a bit random to me. i hope for a revamp (again) however i’m doubtful this would happen

most of the songs I wanted to qualify to the final actually did, so i’m quite satisfied with this lineup of songs to be honest i’m still rooting for “hartita de llorar” by lachispa on saturday. even though the performance wasn’t great vocally, I’m hoping she’s able to pull it off tomorrow as the song is still the strongest option for spain in my opinion. “vip” by J Kbello is another decent option, and i do think they have potential with that. another pleasant surprise in the final was “i’m a queen” by mel ömana, who in my opinion, had the best live performance from this years lineup. definitely a deserved finalist!

a great entry from greece! klavdia was my favourite from the selection so im very satisfied with her winning they do need to work on the staging before may, but there’s plenty of time for that. it’s also going to be interesting to see if they revamp the song at all, and if so, how. but still, asteromáta is a great choice and i hope we see greece do well in may!

from the three heats so far, this is by far the strongest one in my opinion. i enjoyed all of the songs (except one) and it was a clear improvement in song quality compared to the last two heats from the two qualifiers, i suppose i can see why they made it although neither would’ve been my personal picks. “whole” by gebrasy is a decent song but it had a really impressive performance, meanwhile “after storm” by gøya is pleasant. i’m still so surprised “leilydo” by hansanova finished last as it deserved SO much better. i’m also gutted that queens of roses didn’t make it. “taip!” is very different to their previous entries (which i also loved), but they were still easily one of the best in this heat. and “visaip man reik“ by black biceps obviously deserved to qualify too, especially seeing the televote landslide they had

the two final songs for the polish selection have now been released since my last video! there’s also been a few small changes to my ranking since then, however my favourites have essentially remained the same unfortunately both daria and janusz’ songs didn’t impress me much compared to what we already know. so therefore, i’m still rooting for “gaja”, “lusterka” or “tempo” to win this selection.

slovenia have always been one of my personal favourite countries in the contest (and often i found them very underrated), but this selection is just very weak unfortunately. i would’ve loved to see them continue with their internal selections after joker out/raiven, both of which were in my top 3. it’s nice to see july jones and astrid back, even though i feel like their previous attempts were somewhat stronger. my favourite by far in this selection is “divja” by ZveN, and i would love to see this somehow win but i don’t think it will. it’s a song we’ve never really seen before at the contest and would be an incredible risk. from what i can see, it’ll be between klemen with “how much time do we have left” and july jones with “new religion”. the best choice between those two is definitely july jones, and i do think she could qualify with a good performance. klemen’s song is (unfortunately) very basic (despite the good lyricism) and in its current form would struggle at the contest. that being said, i will still be watching the show next week 🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️ and i hope slovenia can surprise us

a great selection from belgium! i wasn’t too fussed by their national final two years ago (although it provided us with gustaph who was a GREAT winner) but this year it already feels like it’s improved! the showcase shows were such a cool idea and alot of the performances were amazing, so im excited to see what they bring next week! while i love mentissa, and “Désolée” is undoubtedly one of the best songs in this selection, the clear choice for basel is red sebastian with “strobe lights” in my opinion. his voice is incredible, the showcase performance stood out to me instantly and i think this could give belgium a sure top ten result. i know there’s been a lot of talk about them leading the odds right now, but honestly with strobe lights i wouldn’t rule them out as a winner 🫣

a good choice from luxembourg! not my personal favourite, but I did expect her to win tonight so the result didn’t come as a surprise to me while it’s not ranked highly (for now) by me, i do think it’s a strong entry and does have potential. with a small revamp and an improved staging, this could be incredible in basel

this is, unfortunately, quite a disappointing selection. while norway have always been a hit or miss country for me, there was no doubt they always had some quality in their selections which unfortunately doesn’t feel present this year. while i won’t instantly write them off as a nq, i do think they could be at risk. their best bet is sending something like “parasite”, “the game” or “lighter” as those are the songs which i feel will have the most potential to score well with a decent performance. however this still ranks as one of the weakest selections of 2025 for me personally, and i wonder if the two withdrawn names (lavrans & angelina jordan) had better songs

a good selection of songs from ireland! really hoping they’ve entered a new era now following the success of bambie last year whilst i enjoy most of the songs here, there’s one clear option for basel that has the most potential imo. and that’s “powerplay” by bobbi arlo. the song is already one of my all time favourites from this year, and it would be the perfect follow up entry to doomsday blue tbh 🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️. really hoping it wins next month

portugal is one of the countries who’s selection I look forward to every year! they always bring quality and 2025 is no exception. in fact, i would go as far as to say that this is one of the best selections of songs i’ve ever heard. i don’t dislike any, infact even my last place is a fine song, just the one i simply enjoyed the least i think there’s plenty of options here for the contest. i would love to see portugal send “tristeza” by josh because i think it has huge potential for a powerful performance. however, “adamastor” by peculiar could stand out really well at the contest as it’s something we haven’t seen before. of course we also can’t rule out henka with “i wanna destroy u”. i don’t think it’ll win, but it certainly stands out. and i enjoy the song, but there’s stronger ones in this lineup.
