As usual, it's all about the money not the stories and art. The general public just doesn't understand.

Every comic book nerds dream is to find a valuable copy of a comic among their collection. To find a veritable vault full of important and rare comics in mint condition is beyond anyone's wildest dream. When it comes to the question should they sell I say part of the answer is very easy. They have multiple copies of some rare books. They could immediately sell off all duplicates and keep one original. The other part is harder, but the fact is that these books are going to outlive the owners. Sell them on to people that are going to keep them in good condition for another 86 years (Superman first appeared in Action Comics #1 in 1938). I have a comic book collection that is not in mint condition and doesn't have exclusive issues, but I am scanning them all bit by bit so that I still have the stories. I'll then pass on the comics for whatever I can get. I have the full Deadpool All Killer No Filler collection of hardbacks which cost £1000 to collect over four years. I've scanned them all so that if I ever sell them I still have the stories. For this family scanning them all would be a massive exercise and would be hard to do without devaluing the comics. But, it is possible. Anyway I look forward to seeing this fascinating documentary.

I love collecting but it would be damn near impossible for me to not sell those comics for that kind of money. I wouldn't sell them all, just enough to retire and payoff everything for the rest of my days. Then let the next gen decide what they want to do.

Do you really need to show the world how awful your father was? And then proceed to make millions from selling his collection? Living up to your father's legacy right there. What is even the point of this documentary? Just settle it privately. Oh yeah. Duuuh. The MONEY! Disgusting.

Suspense is killing me! Superhero comic books not only survived history, they shaped in so many ways. Seeing decades to nearly a century old issues appreciated in modern times is like traveling back in time.

It's a dilemna worth winning tho. Sell some. Ease your lives. To the right people/ gallery? Museum? Studio? Celeb? who will preserve and display etc. Others keep yourselves. Win Win. It can be done. Hard to be impassive-- but stay as neutral as possible. Even voting on certain issues if necessary. I had a 45 year? trove of my own to work through.

Can't wait to see this documentary. Being a former comic book collector since the John Byrne revamping of the Superman comic books in the 80's. It's understandable what a hard decision it is. Do you sell the collection that's worth a fortune or do you keep it?!

Somebody once told me, you can't put a price on anything other than life itself which is precious as well as priceless. Everything else in life has no value only what people are willing to pay for it.

I often think about my kids and what they will do with my collection and will that collection maintain in the years to come or after I am gone. I love it but never expect them to.
