Man i love this so much! That melody and soundscape is something different. Never knew about the Intellijel Cascade and this vid made me search it up a lot. Was wondering how much is it being effected by the Mood Mk2? Is it doing a lot of processing, or can you get these dreamy big sounds from the Cascade only? Also your description says its playing lead + bass. Did you record multiple layers on the push and play it back or is it polyphonic? Thanks 🙌
@benjaminmauch_3 ай бұрын
Thank you!!! There's minimal processing in this vid with the Mood tbh, most of the effects I'm just running in Ableton (delay, reverb, compression, eq...). The mood was just sampling the Cascadia and pitching it up an octave at certain points, but that's it, you can definitely do similar things with a pitch shifting delay. Also, I'm playing it duophonically here, osc 2 is playing the bass line independent of osc 1, and you can set this up in the midi settings thanks to a newish firmware. You can separate the oscillators with the mixer and tune them to different octaves with each having their own filter and envelope, very fun to be able to play bass and lead all on one instrument. :)
@itsdrawkcab58993 ай бұрын
@@benjaminmauch_ Wow thats really cool! Interesting that you ran it through ableton effects, sounds so nice. How did you get that ambient pad thing that starts at 0:30? Is that also the Cascadia? I'm assuming its something pre recorded that you launch with the push? That sound really takes the ambience up a level for me 😍.
@benjaminmauch_3 ай бұрын
@@itsdrawkcab5899 Yeah that sound at :30 is a sampled granular piano thing that I just trigger with the push, thought it added a nice touch to the overall sound :) Also yeah, Ableton effects are super great, I typically use mostly their stock plugins for everything I do unless I want a really specific sound, and it's super nice to have all of them on the Standalone Push so I don't need any more pedals haha!!
@itsdrawkcab58993 ай бұрын
Great! Thanks for replying. Could you maybe explain a bit on how you make that sampled granular piano? Is that something you can do in push standalone as well?

Sounds beautiful! I have been having a lot of fun with the Cascadia and Push 3 standalone combo. The looper can be especially fun (even though the Push 3 firmware needs some enhancement for that device)
@benjaminmauch_3 ай бұрын
Thanks so much! It's a winning combination, feels nice and compact but super powerful and of course super playable. I'll have to try using the looper when I get a chance, right now I've just been keeping it simple and just using the Ableton step sequencer, but I would like more options for that as well, kinda limited. Hopefully we'll get some new things to try with Ableton 12.

Fantastic -- so well done. Thank you for sharing this! I'm seriously considering CASCADIA as the heart of my small desktop studio, and I'm sure you know that there are not many videos around with CASCADIA in action -- so this is also so helpful to see and hear how you're using it (it sounds amazing!!). You describe the lead and bass coming from the synth, are both of these voices playing simulltaneously? I understand it is a mono synth, but dual-mono MIDI was recently released.. And a last question, your pedal is connected to the FX 'utility'? Please forgive any awkward wording on my part, I'm totally new to this world -- and thank you again, watched the video 3X. 🧐
@benjaminmauch_4 ай бұрын
I'm so glad you enjoyed it!! Cascadia is wonderful, I love how good it sounds coupled with how small and compact it is. And yes, there are two voices being played simultaneously, I have 2 separate midi tracks played by the Push into Cascadia, oscillator 1 is the lead and oscillator 2 is the bass line. Also, I have the Chase Bliss mk 2 set up as a send/return effect with Cascadia's pedal output, not doing and crazy modulation with it other than the Mood sampling the sounds being played and when I turn it on it plays back with reverb and pitch shifting. It's a really fun setup, very playable and compact and I'm really digging it. :)

Thanks very much, @@benjaminmauch_ - really helpful!! I have a Polyend Tracker and can envision how it will work with CASCADIA based on your Push 3 use here. Have you used CASCADIA in any other studio setups (I've seen your other video)? I've read a great thread on MODWIGGLER, and from a Eurorack perspective METROPOLIX gets mentioned regularly as a module that would mesh beautifully with the synth, even as a 1-module case setup; The 0-CONTROL also makes some appearances on KZbin.. Looking forward to joining the CASCADIA club! Thanks again. 😀
@benjaminmauch_4 ай бұрын
@@crtzmo Oh cool, I used to have a Polyend Tracker and loved it, you can definitely do similar things with it's midi out as I'm doing here with the Push. I'm still new to Cascadia, so haven't used it in any other setup yet, but I'm planning on making some vids and music using some euro to sequence and effect it in the future!

I never used the push 2 but I absolutely love this version. It's perfect for sketching out ideas without the computer and then transferring files over and expanding on them later. I've played live with it and I love that I didn't have to use my computer to have all of the sounds I wanted. Definitely would recommend it if you have the cash to spend!
