From what ive see, it is o the thinner side of the spextrum (like the video said), it takes hits better but wears and scratches faster than other bodies

Nice to see a diagnosis video of these RCs. I had mine about a month now and she just seized up on me the other night. I assumed I had broken something in the diff, but turns out to be a fried motor. They are discontinued now and probably for good reason. That motor is way too much for the chassis and drive train imo. What grease or fluid would you use in these diffs? I don't see anything in the manual about what to use.

im trying to get into this hobby but is there a reason these bodies feel so flimsy? why cant they make something like kyosho 4x4 bodies?
@daddyocr.c.9285

Sorry for the late response. The aftermarket bodies are a soft polycarbonate for weight and durability. Hard plastic is heavy and brittle. It's all about weight.

You got skills, friend. Not sure I have ever seen someone work on a ball diff while not opening the gearbox. Well done.

The balls should be be trapped in the groove the have created in the pressure plate. I use a stock housing so tolerance it very tight. If you use an aftermarket housing you may need to shim inside to maintain the specs

I feel like if you glued the arms it would be just as good as the spring it just needs to be firmly connected to remove that slop but what I found is if you just tune your wheel camber and toe perfect you won’t have weird steering issues

Have you noticed if the outdrive cup on either side was crooked after tightening the diff? I’ve built two and they’ve both given me problems.
@daddyocr.c.9285
@daddyocr.c.9285 2 жыл бұрын
I actually didn't run it much longer. I switched back to stock diff. The outdrive cups were just to soft on the mip.

@@daddyocr.c.9285 I appreciate the response so quickly! Yeah, I’m not too impressed with this MIP diff after having built two, running one, and being sent a third because the bearings on one were majorly dented. Wishing hot racing made a ball diff as well as the spool diff. Thanks again! Good content also, keep it up!

The mip may have softer material to reduce shock in the driveline. It performs we'll, just doesn't last.
@russroznowski2087
@russroznowski2087 Жыл бұрын
@@ls1_cammeroh yup, stock all the way. Or get the Hot Racing spool diff for general bashing on low bite surfaces. MIP ball diff is terrible IMO. The outdrive cup will start to go crooked as you tighten it down, which means your driveshafts aren’t running balanced. The cupped washers have zero resistance and flatten out immediately so it’s hard to keep the diff consistently running at the same tension.
