Every time I see a table saw makes me cringe, especially if someone is standing right in front of it, I’ve been hit twice from kick back in the abdomen,the last time was bad enough I will never use a table saw again. Even if you use all safety precautions it can happen.

Hi what is the name of the tape in the UK 🇬🇧? I'm guessing packing tape. Thank you
@bluenorthwoodworking2 ай бұрын
Hey, I’m in Canada and it’s called Tuck Tape. It’s basically sheathing tape used underneath siding of house exteriors. Not sure what would be equivalent in the UK.

Great video man! I was wondering how its holding up? I've made plans to build something similar but a lot of guys are saying I should add supports in the middle as well to prevent sagging long ways in the future. Whats your opinion, do you think that would be necessary or nah? RIP to your father
@bluenorthwoodworking3 ай бұрын
Never a bad idea to have extra support. Mine has held up with no issues at this point and I typically have a couple hundred pounds of wood on the bottom shelf at all times. And thank you 💙

Question about the caster wheels. What wheels do you suggest (Amazon ? ) and is there any issue fastening them to the 4x4 end grain ?
@bluenorthwoodworking4 ай бұрын
Hi Tom, I just went with a highly rated wheel off of Amazon. Make sure you take in account the full height of the wheel prior to cutting your legs. My 4” casters were 5 1/4” tall if I recall. I didn’t like screwing into the end grain, but it worked fine. I used washers to help.

It’s really cool you would n your dad,mine has been in heaven for 40 years more and to this day there are little things that make me think of him. I to am making one to flatten slabs. I have a real nice sled set up don’t want to mention who’s because i do not know if it would be advertising for them, anyway i would like to make it so the sled could be removed early so i can use it for an every day work table as well. I really like these plans and plan to use them to make my table, maybe i will send pic when done.
@bluenorthwoodworking5 ай бұрын
Hi Howard, I would consider routing in some dovetail grooves and using microjig clamps to keep your sled in place, while also being able to remove it anytime you want. Good luck with your table :)

Thank you! This is a great video! I'm hoping to put a heavy flat file on the bottom shelf - do you think as long as I get heavy-duty casters, it could support about 150 lbs?
@bluenorthwoodworking5 ай бұрын
I have had some pretty heavy wood on my bottom shelf and it’s been fine. The cross bracing should make it plenty strong enough, in my opinion.

totally agree....the second part of this is the color editing....most important and it isnt hard as there are a heap of free software programs out there for both phones and pc...all you need to do is get the piece to look a similar colour to your naked eye as it does on the screen......you don't want your clients going..... awww the timber is darker or lighter then I was expecting...I have seen images online that look amazing yet the item in person looks like crap...lol...lol....dont use editing to build false expectations by your clients...and yes some timbers and grains are a bitch to photograph so they look the same as the naked eye...The third part is the lighting...this is a little more complex but if you leave your camera settings on default and play with lighting and angles you will be surprised at how good an image you can produce.....cheers

Spot on all around 👌🏻👌🏻 I’m all iPhone all the time but constantly think how nice it’d be to outsource the shooting and editing. Problem is I work like an hour a day in the shop doing little steps here and there and can’t imagine someone showing up for the random short times. And I don’t have room for two people in the shop 😆 So maybe I keep shooting and outsource for the editing…. Someday.

When I eventually make this, it will be used for cutting fabric and leather for bag-making and quilting. I’ll use melamine as the top so my mats and fabrics don’t get snagged. I’ve not really made anything since woodworking class 47yrs ago. I’m not afraid though I am wondering how I’d get it out of the house when I move in 2-4yrs. I’m considering using bolts instead of screws with braces at the corners so it is easier to break down. Thanks for the video!

Good luck Christine. I used screws on my last bench, which I disassembled and reassembled without issue when moving.

I made this workbench (or very similar) about 5 years ago. I have since gotten more serious with woodworking and realized I should've made the top of this a torsion box so that the entire surface of the bench can be a flat reference.
