Wayne Warren - I wish that there was more scope in ordinary churches for playing inspiring, contemplative pieces such as this one during the administration of Holy Communion. Too often, banal 'worship songs' are insisted on by the clergy which congregations cannot sing. Sometimes it seems that there is too little scope to listen to the Voice of a Higher Power via the medium of music.

Organ music from this period is not often heard but in its day it was often played and heard. Thanks for specialising in organ music from this period Wayne it is so soothing.

I enjoyed the intense modulations and contrasting sections here! Is this an improvisation, or is it based on something? You've written a name but not the composer, and it seems you're reading something, so it's hard to tell.

German composer and music teacher. Bisping is known as the author of Bisping's Piano School (first edition 1860), one of the most authoritative piano schools of the 19th century. His student Alfred Rose edited this school and dedicated it to his teacher; this New Piano School by Bisping-Rose , originally in 5 volumes, now mostly published in 2 volumes, was first recorded by Hofmeister in 1900 and went through over 30 editions by the 1930s. Bisping was also a co-founder of the Protestant Gymnasium in Lippstadt (1845).
