Big fan of early 20th century Joseph Pennell. Have always wanted to try etching. Thanks for the informative video.

A truly outstanding and enjoyable piece to watch. I had to stop many times and back it up to look at the work, I found all these pieces extraordinary and some just really captivate me, hard to let each one pass. This medium is so warm and it's hard to think of another medium that translates so beautifully into form, it's almost like you can't go wrong, from pop art, to folk art to the finest etchings and tonal explorations. It feels so magical. I took a couple minutes to really study the faces in an etching plate hung on the wall in Rembrandt's house in Amsterdam. I counted the lines, I think there were 18 strokes on copper (i think ) used to create this mans face, and I counted them because there was full depth of character and form and expression and everything else that made it a masterpiece. 18 little lines and it captured the essence better than a photo. I don't recall seeing the print from it, but the plate alone was unforgettable. Something so direct when captured cleanly, the true art of making an impression, a mark, a form that digs in and is recognizable. This art is inspiring.

Such an incredible artist! I peeked over her shoulder & was in awe at her talent at a young age. She has always been an inspiration to do what brings joy to your soul.

In 1980, this painting, Pastures New, was at the center of an FBI art theft investigation in Cincinnati....The United States v. Danny Ledbetter. The FBI's questioning of the accused, Danny Ledbetter, happened prior to his arrest. But before questioning he was advised of his rights and willingly signed a waiver of rights document It has been cited as case law concerning fifth and sixth amendment rights and Miranda law. United States v. Danny Ledbetter. Look it up!

just finishing Neltje's autobiography "North of Crazy" and it has given me a great urge to visit her beloved part of the world. As a fellow abstract expressionist, the highlands of Scotland (my childhood home) and the landscape of Sicily (my home from home) seem to resonate with Neltje's description of Northern Wyoming. All the best to you and your endevours, Mike.

I was lucky to meet her near her home at a garden party. She was not in good health at that time and she signed her book for me. I would have loved to have seen her home. She had beautiful sculptures on her property. Very interesting woman. May she rest in peace.
