That is really impressive. May I ask how you simulated or animated the movement of the ship? I've been working for the last 3 weeks on a physics-based system with geometry nodes that can simulate the buoyancy behavior of almost any object. I would be really interested to know how you were able to make the ship move so realistically. Is it animated by hand?
@BlindIllusionist2 күн бұрын
@@mopple1908 Thank you! This might disappoint you but I just animated it by hand ;)
@mopple1908Күн бұрын
@@BlindIllusionist The splash down at the beginning made me think that the movement of the ship might have been simulated somehow. Still a very good job. I guess you have made first a low resolution bake without the boat in the water and then integrated the boat and made the high resolution bake? Are you still planning to make a tutorial for the “pirate ship open sea” video? I would be very interested in how you combined the large ocean and the flip simulation.

Did you think about using Swithclight to better comp the Greenscreen Footage into the scene? I think it would have helped you a lot with relighting the flat looking footage to better match the scene. Kudos for the awesome environments that is crazy amounts of work. I think some advanced comping would have elevated this quite nicely, but I am sure you know that

a big amount of work for one person, a project like this is the best school for yourself. Dedication to bring a huge undertaking into completion is one of the hardest things. I won't go into things you could've done better, you know them yourself. As artist we are never satisfied anyway. On to the next project, and you know it will be better. Well done.
