I love these trees. I live in Victoria BC and we call them Gary Oaks. Thanks for sharing!

They are doing great in Southern Oregon, they are everywhere there. I like my old oaks growing up in Southern Oregon but saying "the oak is Oregon's tree" over our beloved giant beautiful Douglas Firs borders on blasphemy.

They should encourage people to grow Oregon White Oaks them in their backyards and City parks and build up not out!

Well, i went to the bayview cemetary in bellingham a few days ago, and got around 25 acorns, did the water test, and planted em in pots, and now im just waiting for them to sprout. And when they do ill take care of em, for probably a year, and ill plant them in various areas. Ill probably keep doing this every year for as long as i can tbh 😄

we saved a garry oak about 6 years ago, its ten years old now, its as tall as the rambler, problem is it was planted in the front of the house near the culdesac, i suspect it will be cut down in another ten years

Our three acres west of Woodburn has probably 30 old oak trees......we love them except in the fall when all the leaves fall. But they are beautiful and full of birds and bees and other critters and we will keep them as long as we are here.

If we humans do not stop increasing our numbers, all habitats ... including this one ... will not recover, will not re-wild. Read Dave Foreman's book titled Man Swarm.
