What is that at around 47:10? It's not a stonefish/scorpionfish. Is it a sculpin of some kind?
@KarimLounesDiving7 күн бұрын
I am not sure exactly, but it seems to either be a Coral Scorpionfish or some kind of Barbfish. Let's see if others cqn help identify it.

Great video! I love all the information, only thing is that jaques cousteau never came to Cozumel, there are no records of the calypso ever entering Cozumel waters, but that has been used as publicity for the island for years.
@KarimLounesDiving3 ай бұрын
First of all, thank you so much for your nice words. Second, you are correct. It was a rumor that people passed along that became sort of "appealing truth" to promote the island. There is a series of links mentioning that he mentioned it, but I found this page (again, I am not sure which is accurate), but this page gives a good chronology about where the confusion came from. everythingcozumel.com/the-documentary-of-cozumel-that-jacques-cousteau-never-made/ I will keep digging more in the future and see if I can find some formal documentation.
@lipe267142 ай бұрын
@@KarimLounesDiving The rumors might have some truth behind them. I had the privilege to dive some years ago with and old time diver from cozumel, and he showed us a few pictures of him and Jean-Michel Cousteau together (Jacques Cousteau son). Apparently he went to the island a few times to dive with him. The pictures might have been from the 70's or 80's, not sure, but a wild guess is that's where the stories and confusion might have started. I really enjoyed your video by the way!

i noticed you guys changed from split fins to regular fins for the drift dive? does that mean you guys bring on board more than a pair of fins?
@KarimLounesDiving3 ай бұрын
Hello. I am not sure about people changing fins for specific dives, but there is extra gear on the boat as a backup. Maybe someone had issues with their main fins and had to use the backup.

Wonderful Videos! Thank you for sharring! Can I ask video gear you are using underwater?
@KarimLounesDiving3 ай бұрын
Thank you for the nice words. I mainly use a GoPro for the videos. I have flip filter that I change depending on the depth. There is one for shallow and one for deeper than 25 feet. the GoPro is sitting on the top of a "Photo" camera housing. For night diving, I obviously do not use the filters since I use video lights. I hope this helps.

@KarimLounesDiving5 ай бұрын
Thanks for the positive feedback. The deepest we have been on the dives we did was less than 65 feet, but the bottom off the wall is over a 100 feet, anyone could venture down deeper, But they would need to end their dive earlier and remain the surface while the others continue diving. Hope this helps.

Hows this boat for solo travelers/divers?
@KarimLounesDiving7 ай бұрын
I was a solo traveler on this boat when making this video. The group was so good, it felt like a family after just one day together. If your question is about diving solo, I am not sure exactly how it works , but you certainly are tied to a schedule since you won't be able to dive while the boat is moving from a site to another. There always are dive guides who ask divers if people are going to follow or just dive as buddies on their own. Divers need to get back on time obviously so they can move the boat to the next dive site. As long as you follow the guide, you don't have to have a specific buddy, I guess. You may shoot them the question via their agency's site: Search Allstar Liveaboards.
