When all of them were at the top of their game, the post-hardcore/screamo scene was at it’s height… this EP is an example of true art made by some of the truly great creatives of the time. Stand-out performances, songwriting and instrumentals.

Hey! Just finished watching all your Pierce The Veil album reviews, and I really enjoyed them! I already have put them on as background audio for things like chores and homework. But I have a question, do you have plans to review their album “A Celebration Of An Ending” from when they were called “Before Today”? I would LOVE to hear your guys thoughts on it! It’s a super interesting album for sure. Thanks!
@Mikey.INK.216 ай бұрын
3:27- il answer that one, you also have to look at it from a music video prospective as with both silver screams there is an over arcing story within the universe they have made and there is no doubt that they will make a 3rd and final instalment as the last music video of welcome to horrowood (meat and greet) witch released on the deluxe version of this album, the music video(story part) ended on a clifhanger

i just think that, the new national anthem has one of the most emotional and just amazing lyrics, the harmonizations and just the guitars are perfect its not for everyone, yes, but still, i always imagine of a couple that has just broke up and the boy is just sitting on the backyard of their house thinking of everything that has happened in the relationship, regreting what he did and what he didnt do, thinking of all the things that her now ex girlfriend has gone thru, idk it has such an effect on me

Yeah I gotta disagree with you on almost all your takes. The entire album is not only a sequel to the first album but its also a continuation of the story they have been telling through their songs and music videos. I cant see why you really dislike rainy day as it takes the best parts of the whole album building off spencers amazing vocals and creating breakdowns and throws them together perfectly, its my personal favorite of the album so I have a soft spot for it but just saying it isnt for you in one thing but you glossed over that whole song like it was just shit. With take your pick its the same thing, you are basing most of your review based on the movie instead of the song, especially having someone as big as corpsegrinder flow that well on a song. On the box its again you caring more about the movie than the song, the majority of that franchise ended up being about pinhead so understandably so the song is about him not the family in the first what 1 or 2 movies? Theres nothing wrong with being against a song but when you are only against it because of you disliking the movie or its interpretation instead of actually basing your review off of the actual musical talent a group has is messed up, do better man.

The national anthem I can see being looked at as weird but I think if you really sit down and listen to the lyrics and the instrumental it’s just so emotional and deep and once you get passed the high pitched vocals it’s really good and it’s a good song when ur feeling emo and sad the build up is super emotional and this song feels like a roller coaster

i remember reading an analysis on this album and the whole theme was basically about selfish desires and stuff so the incel vibe from fast times at clairemont high defs make sense and fits in with the other songs. but anyways love your vid!! 🖤🖤🖤
@discreview Жыл бұрын
Hey thanks! And yeah that’s really interesting! I think we probably were a little hard on it just because a lot of music from this era has underlying incel tones, but it’s always cool when taboo themes are intentionally written into an album.

@@TheGreatestOfAllLostArts oh yes of course, i love the entire flair of the dramatic album, and its kind of why i like ptv as a whole each of their albums has a different sound, or era of vic and the band. vic's voice range over the years is the funnest to observe, but to see how creative they were in the first records like in the band of before today as well they were much more experimental. i think i enjoy the newer sounds equally since i'm more of a newer listener, having growing up with set it off and mcr. i won't deny that their old sound is much more creative which i love so much
@TheGreatestOfAllLostArts Жыл бұрын
@@whoa1770 Yeah nah well, that's what made em great imo. When they actually wrote good progressive post-hardcore. Later on they turned too pop rocky and kinda bland. Especially their newest shit, really boring and unlistenable imo. Not cause its different, but simply cause its more dumbed down and boring

They have extra songs on their sound cloud page, 7 demos that weren’t officially released so aren’t on the streaming services, but are downloadable. Features short preludes & some of their best full band songs. They are my current favourite band & while it’s a surprise they aren’t more known, I think it’s sadly because of how un-prolific they are in their output (but they clearly have so, so much more material they just never release). They’ve been teasing an album for years that’s never came to be, singles that never released, possible live performances that have yet to happen & disappearing from social media for a year at a time. It’s unfortunate, because the demand is there & they deserve to seriously blow up (& definitely would) if they were more active, but it could be just personal lives making it harder (as is the case with most us musicians).

Thank you so much sharing, I had no idea they had more music on SoundCloud! They definitely deserve more success and I hope they make a comeback.

Viola Lion is your least favorite? It’s such a good song. The intro of “I am a million pieces of the sky” is sang so beautifully. then when he says “i’m gonna wait until you want me. DONT GO HOME!!” god it’s so beautiful. When I listened to this album as a 14 year old, I didn’t like it. now that i’m older, I really like it. Been obsessed with it for a couple weeks. so ready for the Jaws of Life release ❤

Loved this, very detailed and fun to listen into. You should listen to their 7-track "The B-Side Collection" album, which is basically songs the band wanted on their It Won't Be Soon Before Long album, but was cut after final review and they released it separately. Hope to see that reacted to soon and can't wait for Maroon 5's third album review, Hands All Over.

I don’t think I could agree with you guys less on new national anthem and fast times. New national anthem is one of ptv’s peaks for me when it comes to build up and emotional catharsis in their songs. Has some of their most gorgeous vocal harmonies too. Idk y’all. And I’m pretty sure fast times is deliberately leaning into the “if I can’t have you, no one can” hence the album title. In that sense I think this one paints the best picture in my head, like I always imagine a teen beach party turned murder horror film in my head to it. It’s campy and silly and I like that. But I WILL say I’m glad I’m not the only one who’s never liked the feature on caraphernelia. His style of screams aren’t my fave and I think PTV just has a history of some pretty mid features.

So I was in my senior year of hs when Selfish Machines dropped, and I had actually never listened to then.....then when Collide With The Sky dropped...still hadn't listened to them. Idk why, but it wasn't until I was 25 that I first remember hearing them. They've been my favorite band ever since. I didn't have the chance to grow out of them.
