Slowly working my way through your videos and enjoying them all. I stayed in this PI a few years ago for 5 nights. There were net curtains on the windows - between the inner and outer glass. For 5 nights I tried to pull back the net curtain to look out and just banged my fingers on the inner window. I suppose it saves on laundry.

Out of all the budget hotels you have done ... what area and hotel will you recommend for a family of 5 in December?
@sleepwalkstuffАй бұрын
Hi there. Thanks for your question. This is a tough one because I torture myself sometimes with the truly budget ones and I'd hate to do that to you/the kids. If you book early enough the safest option is a Travelodge, maybe the one in Ealing. It often shows up for less than £70 a night. My personal fave is the Church Street Hotel with the caveat that it's a bit of a walk to a tube station and it's shared bathrooms. Stayed there 4 or 5 times now.

I love your videos and have stayed in some of the hotels you visit. This video is special because you just took an image of my study! Moved in in March this year. Wish I could have invited you over for a beer. You have become a minor celebrity in my household!
@sleepwalkstuff2 ай бұрын
Oh, wow. That must have been quite the surprise. Although it was a while ago now and my brain is starting to merge some stays, I have fond memories of that hotel. I think there was a pizza place down the road that I really liked.

Mate I listened very carefully to your video , I personally think you need to take a good look at yourself and your video and think " hmm do I complain about everything!" , c'mon plates too heavy! Too many bugs! Gravel path too loud under foot , really! I found this attitude to a " romantic " break away really disturbing, here's my advise.... take a chill pill 😉
@sleepwalkstuff2 ай бұрын
I'd have to watch the vid again but I doubt I complained about "everything" but who knows, maybe I did. What I will say against the examples you made: the plates were legit heavy and I think a young kid or a particularly weak (for whatever reason) adult may struggle, the level of bugs I think are worth pointing out as it was October and not especially warm, if I complained about the gravel being noisy it was more to apologise for any noise rather than gravel being gravel. But, hey, my vids are not for everyone if they were I'd have more subscribers. I appreciate you watching though and offering your feedback. Take care.

Do you recommend the hotel? Seems like a very good price for London
@sleepwalkstuff2 ай бұрын
You know what you are getting with a Travelodge. It's not close to the centre so you will need to jump on the underground for 40 minutes or so. If you are okay with that, the price is reasonable in comparison.

Hi there, I’m wondering if it is easy to go to the airport from the hotel or going to central Paris?
@sleepwalkstuff3 ай бұрын
I never used the airport so I don't recall for sure but it was close to a underground service and was fairly easy to navigate. I walked to Eiffel Tower / Notre Dame in maybe 40 minutes. Again, tube close by that would speed things up.

Is it possible you have stayed at Lords Hotel? It is right around the corner beside Leinster Square, which might be why New Linden felt so familiar. I happen to have stayed at both, Lords is very basic but better value for money in my opinion and cheaper.
@sleepwalkstuff3 ай бұрын
I know the hotel you mean but I've not stayed at Lords. I've seen it come up when I'm choosing my hotels though so I'm sure a stay is in my future! Appreciate the tip though, I'll pay it more attention next time.

That room left me feelong depressed and i didn't even sleep in it! London is full of overpriced mediocre hotels. The noisy floorboards were inexcusable. Obviously a cheap cowboy job. Then there was the noisy fan in the bathroom and the flat pillows. That room was definitely not worth £150 a night or £75 either. Thanks for exposing this.
@sleepwalkstuff4 ай бұрын
Floorboards were a joke. I don't mind the noisy bathroom fan because it's temporary and I would prefer that the bathroom has one! Was pricey especially because of the issues. Won't stay again.
@bganonimouse27544 ай бұрын
150 squid the regular price for that room? That's just wrong. I don't know about the Asian inspired decorations but I recognise that bathroom from somewhere!
@sleepwalkstuff4 ай бұрын
Those decorations were weird. Straight from a horror film for me. The pricing on this hotel was completely out of whack but that's London I guess. Especially this part of London.

It's always nice when you have a view straight down a street. I will have nightmares about those floorboard. They will always be the benchmark to how bad floorboards can be. Thanks for watching!

I enjoyed walking along with you, I did almost the exact same route ( but not through the Galeria) a couple of years ago when I went to see Abba Voyage. After crossing Tower Bridge we carried on eastwards to our hotel in Limehouse before jumping on the DLR for the final stretch. A walk of about 4 miles - unfortunately I couldn't do it now as I have a heart condition. Also, crazy to think this was only a part of The Queue to see the late Queen lying in state. I look forward to watching your further adventures.

Sorry to hear about your dog bro. Clawford is great. Disappointed to hear about the cobwebs but being on a lake the pods will need more regular maintenance and cleaning. What I have found that sets Clawford apart is the peace and the fishing is brilliant (if you’re a angler that alone makes the stay x100 better)- it’s still a relatively new resort so I’m sure they’ll act on feedback. Also there is a food van that comes from the local farm and the food they sell is amazing!
@sleepwalkstuff4 ай бұрын
Thanks, man. Overall, I really liked the stay. Hopefully that came across in the video. Like you say, you are on a lake, there be spiders. Luckily we only saw what the spiders did rather than the spiders themselves. Did not see the van which is a shame. Would have liked too have picked up some fresh bread and the like. Appreciate you watching the video.

A lot of fun seeing the EGX expo. Very true what you said about the Amiga being the game changer. Most who are old enough and were into gaming enough had that experience, although the slightly older crowd always seemed to hang on to the Atari ST as their game changing model.

Give Les Miserables a miss. I spent the longest 4 hours of my life watching it in central London. The problem was that it was a free ticket from friends of my neighbour and they were sitting next to me. So I was stuck. I don't know how many times I fell asleep that evening but it was mind numbingly boring. I'd even rather sit through Titanic and I hate that long winded film with a passion. Anyway I thought I'd pretend this was Christmas in London a few days ago rather than two years ago, so it was was fun - even if I got a bit of a sense that you were being just a little bah humbug!

I stayed at an EasyHotel in Birmingham a few months ago and it was really small but great. I was on the top floor (3rd, I think) so thankfully the lift worked. I was planning to stay at the South Kensington location in March but this video definitely gave me a bit of pause. Might have to reconsider. You had mentioned staying in a nicer place for 38 quid not far from this location. Mind if I ask what hotel that one was?? Thank you.

It was the Hotel Shepherds Bush. The video before this. Not that close really - about 40 mins on tube. I doubt very much it will be the same price now though. Very much covid prices.

Even though only a travelodge it ticks a lot of boxes and Wimbledon is one of those parts of London that feels like an overgrown village rather than the smoky city. Also, interesting that there was no Roger Federer floor - I think he's the most successful player in Wimbledon history so I'm guessing its a trademark thing - unless he's in the basement!
