I started watching Roller Derby in 1969 and these are the team lineups I saw at that time. So many amazing and talented skaters. I couldn't wait until Saturday came around and was lucky enough to catch 2 games, one from an Indianapolis station and another out of Louisville. Those were great times!

I skated in roller games and yes theatrics where popular and scripted. There where some skaters that actually had problems with each otehr and would settle it at half time. Regardless of who got the uppr hand - the out come at the end goes by the scriptt. And yes it was rough tough we did ligiet skating now anf them , Sold out arenas I remembere because of the string story line and the skater's who put there hearts anf lives on the line

Oh boy! How I loved *Roller Derby* back in the day. There were so many great players. Let's see, first the girls: Judy Arnold Judy Sowinski Joan Weston Crazy Carol Phillips Sugar Brown Ann Calvello the guys: Charlie O'Connell Bald Eagle Bob Hine Porky Parker Leroy Gonzales Jim "the King" Trotter Psycho Ronnie Raines Ronnie Robinson back then the matches were incredibly entertaining with a last minute victory by the home team the usual outcome -- what fun we had back then! I also remember announcer Walt Harris who lived well into his 90s. Sadly, I cannot remember the names of the other announcers.

Why oh Why did this go out of favor? I would watch this every Saturday (After Cartoons) and just scream at the TV....lol....They could make it now, with more pads and rollerblades and make it 'Real'...no play fighting but real jostling and checking and this sport would catch fire I think. Sigh....oh to be young again.

In 1976, we used these orange & brown strip jerseys, at the Washington Coliseum. I wore #34. Michael Spriggins, from Philadelphia, was my coach, along with Douglas Lynn, Dwight & others. Feels great to look back to that time period. 😊

I remember Roller Derby having a network of over 100 independent stations, i know some of those stations must have the 2nd half of this western season championship game taped during 1973 in storage!

At least they are playing old school Roller Derby. Not the crap they are trying to pass off as Roller Derby. You can see many are passed their prime and out of shape. But still rather watch this. Plus it's COED as it should be.
