I just ordered this and is there a secret to getting the top to fit? There's a big gap for mine and I don't know how to get it to stick.
@samuelseth3 ай бұрын
The top goes into the slot where the window goes, so lower the window and push it up into the slot. Luno also has a video about the install.

I don’t, but here is a link to the same build I did. But I used 2x6 and 2x8 instead of 2x3 and 2x4. trail4runner.com/2020/07/29/diy-low-profile-drawer-storage-5th-gen-4runner

The most important part about camping in the wilderness is that you must eat a good full meal just in case there's an emergency and you no longer have access to food.... you need to survive ling enough for rescue team to find you..... so eating an apple with peanut butter is healthy but won't sustain you for long if there's an emergency.....

Oohhhh.... those Scottish Highlander legs are so white, they are a perfect free buffet to the mosquitoes and bugs......

Hey man nice video. I want the Ikamper xcover also.. any issues with drag/fuel efficiency being up there with the square shape or with the cover material? Thanks
@samuelseth8 ай бұрын
Thanks! Yeah the tent has just a little bit of drag when you’re driving into the wind. Other than that it’s fine. Anything up on the roof is going to have some drag.
@StabilizerMotion8 ай бұрын
Hey man thanks for replying. Yes of course anything up there will create drag. I just remember carrying one of those roof plastic bags all squared no aerodynamic at all and it was terrible on highway speeds. I think the xcover is still slimmer/sleeker.. how do you compare it with GFC?
@samuelseth8 ай бұрын
The xcover works better for me bc it fits on my rack better. If I had a full length rack the GFC would’ve been fine for me but it was longer than my rack so the drag was bad.

Yeah now add a pillow and close the rear door and see how short it is. You need to take out those seat bottoms.
@samuelseth8 ай бұрын
It’s plenty of room for me with a pillow and the rear door shut! Someone taller might need to take the seat bottoms out.

Hey, Sam. Just found your videos and have been enjoying bingeing on them. You have a very calm manner that translates into your videos. I would love to hear you share a bit about your life in them (to the degree that you are comfortable with of course), perhaps a little of your background, your aspirations; maybe information or your impressions about where you're camping, why you chose the sites where you camp, what your environments make you think of; whatever comes to your mind as you're enjoying these beautiful spaces. As a retired teacher, I can sense that you are a young person many viewers can relate to and would be interested in getting to know. I view a great deal of nomad and camper videos (I love to camp and hike and bike ride on trails), and I always enjoy getting to know the producers' personalities. Don't be hesitant to put yourself out there a bit to help your channel grow. I wish you exceptional success, and I'll be tunining in to all your videos to follow your growth. 🙂

Hey Rand! I’m glad you’re enjoying the videos, I really appreciate all of your advice! I’m not a very talkative person in general, but I’m definitely getting more comfortable talking in my videos. So here soon you should hear more from me in them haha.

Wondering if a 6’-1” person could sleep in there with the rear hatch closed. For reference, how tall are you and what was the length of the mattress?
@samuelseth10 ай бұрын
You could definitely sleep with the hatch closed, just maybe have to lay diagonal if you want more room! The bed is 67 inches and I’m 5’10 so if I lay at a slight angle I can stretch out all the way.
@Aikynbreusov8 ай бұрын
He's 5"10 but because he has very nice white Scottish Highlander legs, it kind of make up for his height.... so he looks awesome....

I loved my 2019 4R while I owned it. They can go damn near anywhere with just a small lift and 33-35 inch tires. I am rollin in a minivan now for the extra space and slight improvement in MPG. I do miss having the capability of going anywhere especially with the snow on the way!
