I never talk to telemarketers. I ask immediately, "who are you", "why are you calling me", "I do not know who you are", "if you need something - email me or mail me your questions". "STOP calling my number". If they are ligitimate, they will send you a letter in the mail. That way you have physical evidence of these companies and their names. NEVER give your personal info to anybody on the phone.

The best way to stop the scam calls is to actually not answer them. If you do and engage, then the scammers know this is an active number with someone at the end of the line and they’ll flood you instead. Letting it ring and never picking up is the way.
