The back cover is the page number 2? How do you download the cover on KDP, please? Normally when we have a template for the cover that we drag and drop on Canva, and from there we start working on its decoration. And when it is time to download the entire project, KDP ask us to download them separately (the cover and then the pages).

Yes correct. You have to download a PDf file for the interior pages and another PDF file for the book cover.

I did it backward, too. I'm writing 30 Christian Devotionals Reflections on Faith with 30 corresponding journal pages. I have a website and have considered a KZbin channel where I would, for now, post periodic audio of the devotionals found in the printed books.

You are so right! It took me so long to start getting sales, because there was a lot of misinformation around how to EFFECTIVELY keyword your book, let alone understanding what the reader or purchaser actually wants out of the book. It is only once I started to understand the buyer that I could - get a good book cover together, - get good A+ content, - provide the actual thing that the reader wants Then and ONLY then did I start to get sales.

So, how did you learn to do keywords properly? Do you use tools like Publisher Rocket, KD Spy, Book Bolt, Book Beam, etc., to do keyword research and use their data to determine if a keyword is profitable and worth using? Or do you think of your own keywords and use them? Please respond; this has been a thorn in my side. I realize they are not telling the truth about keyword research, but I still haven't cracked the code on what I am missing or doing incorrectly. Thanks.

@@findmeanewplanet I am sorry this is such a long answer. You might want to read this one on a computer 😂 I think it finally clicked on how to keyword my books when watching Barry KDP (youtube). His channel is VERY useful for any level of content book. He prefers mid and high content, but its really the same process for any type of book *Tools* (Free stuff at the top paid stuff will be marked as PAID at the bottom) - Amazon (Best Sellers pages or the search bar) - KDP Miner (Like KDP Spy but free) - Chrome Extension - Productor for Merch By Amazon (lets me peek into the keywords of other books from the search results page) - Chrome Extension - Productor for KDP (lets me check for trademark violations before I publish) - Chrome Extension - Titans Quick View (check competitiveness and profitability, some of overlap with Productor) - Chrome Extension - Helium 10(free tier, still learning this one) - Chrome Extension - Publisher Rocket (I think you know this one already) - PAID, one time payment - Tangent Templates (like Book Bolt but without puzzle creation and without research) - PAID, one time payment - also comes with a useful Chrome extension publishing, very useful if you are no-to-low content A quick word on Book Bolt, Book Beam, and KDPSPy. I don't think think they are bad tools. They are subscription based and don't offer me anything that I cant get already either for free OR pay 1 time and get somewhere else. *Keyword Research* Now, when it comes to keyword research, Maritza touched on this in this video : *Know your target buyer/reader/audience* and start with their wants and needs for your keywords research. Example: Lets say your buyer is a parent of a 6-7 year old. What do the parents need? - craft ideas to keep kids busy - parenting tips - how to know if your kid is doing okay - signs your kid is being bullied - tracker for - dr's visits - chronic health issues What do 6-7year olds need? - reading and writing books - reading comprehension books - early/new/beginner reading books - coloring books - actvitiy books - handwriting practice books - early math books - illustrated story books about - getting ready for school - making friends - bullying - anxiety - autism/being different - religious story about XYZ Once you have a starting place of what your target buyer(parent) needs and the target reader (6-7 yr old) THEN when you start looking in Amazon to see whats trending/best-selling for your book ideas. This is where you would start "niching down" based on most YT videos until you hit profitability with your book. You even have a starting point for cross-niching. (i.e., reading comprehension activity book for age/grade-level) By the time you 1. know your buyer 2. know your reader (may be the same person as your buyer) 3. know whats selling on Amazon You will probably have a good idea of your Title, cover, keywords, SEO, product-sponsored ads, and off-amazon social media posts. If you stick with the same buyer/reader then you cut your work effort in half AND you're on your way to building 2-3 very targeted brands. Most KZbinrs don't exactly lie... they tell you ONLY the middle bit, which is the least helpful in actually selling the book. Alright... that's the brain dump. Hope it helps!

I haven't taken the plunge into KDP yet. I won't take the plunge until I'm fully committed to the time and pain that has to be suffered through to have even a small chance of making a little money at it as one producer among tens of thousands. However, if and when I decide to go ahead, I've been fortunate to find a couple of people who don't try to delude anyone into thinking that one book produces thousands of dollars a month. The ones I've found do not charge for their instruction videos. They provide detailed, step by step guidance about what to do and cautions about things that will get you into trouble. And, although they show their earnings reports to prove they are making the money they claim, they are totally honest that it took them years to build up to that level of earnings and they only have it because over those years they have uploaded hundreds of books so that the small amount of revenue from each book combines with others to total their earning amount. They are clear that it could easily be 6 months to a year or more before any of the books uploaded will generate the first sale, because it takes that long to work up to the 2nd or 3rd page of Amazon search reports after starting out being listed on the 20th, 30th, or higher page of the search results. All of the people promoting KDP as a quick and easy get rich side gig may have a book creation technique that could be useful. But anyone who claims that following their guaranteed KDP sales method will ensure short term success is lying. And if they a charging for a KDP publishing course, they are probably a con man.

That's one of the reasons I love your channel, you are honest. I watch so many videos on how people are making huge amounts of money on Amazon KDP, but the channel that's making videos about these people never tell their story and how they are doing. I get suspicious about that.

Hello, I love your channel and it's helped me a lot. I just finished a novella or Kindle short. It's just under a 100 pages. I have no clue on what to do next. I've searched YT and can't find the info I need: what size should it be, how do I make a cover for a Kindle short, Can I use the same cover and contents to make it into a paperback, hardcover, Kindle Short and an audio book. So many questions, but no answers. Could you possibly make a video on Novellas and Kindle Shorts and a step by step instructions on all one needs to make it? Please!

I'll be more than glad to help. I haven't explored the Kindle Novellas fully. I will gladly do some research. As for the book cover, I know that it's different from the regular paperback covers. The cover for the Novella size is 1,000 pixels in height by 625 pixels in width and it must be JPEG file. The dimensions for a paperback will be completely different.

Yes, try uploading it onto Canva and format it there as your paperback file but for a Kindle, you will need a KPF or Mobi file. If you download Kindle Create (it's free), you will be able to upload the docs and format your eBook there.

Wish id had this a few years ago....could have made some fun interactuve short books that teach searching for.information, gathering information, understanding information and them using that to form a project all teaching that research and go find it is better than spoon fed look at the board boredom and then write and repeat after me, just doesnt do it. Doing and go finding and reading short funny books has captivated my boys that i now have a new idea.....

It is true, these videos are full of hype, some say they did the book and their books sell loads and then they never share anything transparently. The youtube videos are hyped to get attention, I do wonder if they actually make any money on the types of books they say in the videos. When they do make money they never explain the true strategies used, so people still have to figure out and make mistakes - sometimes does mistakes will get them banned... Anyway, I have experimented to see the process and is not black and white like they make it sound (I have sold a few books but not those huge numbers those videos mention)

People forget that no matter what you're trying to sell you have to market it. The people who post these get rich quick videos are really only concerned in getting the views and monetizing. I'm seeing the same shift now with faceless KZbin videos. Fiverr and Upwork are great to contract out work. For people who don't like marketing 👋😅 these are great sources. Let someone else help you with social media. If the budget is super tight look for a local teen who would love the chance to do something creative. They live on social media anyway and could create and post for you.
