After a lot of tries, this deck ends goal is just chillin with untargetable, undestructable board. While waiting to bounce whatever necessary they try to out them. Cos if I use my interuption early and got talents or thrust, it will be a struggle. And outting melodious full board is like taking so much resources. Cos mainly we have like 2 interactions, right? (3 if godhand) With handtraps. And it really is so little compared to other decks.
@duelperfect2 күн бұрын
I get that for a lot of people this might be a turn-off, but I think it's the deck's biggest attraction. I love that melodious does something different, yet still does enough. There are a ton of decks that put up generic interruptions, but Melo is one of the few that focuses on board protection. It's like you say, it's tough to out their board, but at the same time, they don't interact with their opponent too much lest they suffer them TTT consequences. It's not perfect, but it feels good enough. Also, the deck can put up traditional negates and interruptions. In my combo tutorial, I showcase a line that gets you an Omni negate + Apo + I:P into S:P. You're right in the sense that part of this decks success is that it is new on Master Duel and most players are learning how to play against it, but it's been in the TCG since April/May. So wouldn't that also mean that many players would have had the time to prepare for it? Also, yes! Formats with many diverse decks are always fun

Pretty easy for tenpai to out ur board. Forbidden droplet or super poly which they both play 3 of each.
@duelperfect4 күн бұрын
@@Punisher41230 I agree with Droplet being a problem, but Etiolle still gets to reset the board if they send it to the grave. The line would be, Etiolle for Bacha. Bacha summon Refrain, Refrain search couplet, couplet summon back Aria from Grave. Then if they send the Bacha to grave, Bacha summons back Etiolle. So it still walls up nicely. Alternatively, if Etiolle hits the grave, summon Bloom Prima which is generally hard to out unless they play the cyberse synchro dragon specifically Super Poly is at 2 in MD, but the rebuild line would be similar. So Melo still has plays when face with those 2 powerful boardbreakers. This aside 2 handtraps do stop Melo in their tracks. Negating both the Bacha and Bloom Harmonist is usually lights out for them
@Punisher412303 күн бұрын
@duelperfect the problem with that from my experience is that, they don't care about your etoile. They will super poly it and that's it. They won't destroy anything else, because they can't, your monsters are protected anyway. But they will just switch all your monster to attack and kill you with 6k attack 3 times. Your protection monster have way to low attack against tenpai.
@duelperfect2 күн бұрын
@@Punisher41230 You're right in the sense that if they super poly,say etiolle and Schuberta that you won't be able to get the Aria back, but your board would block attacks until the lv10 hits the field. That being said, the example you state is rough for melodious, usually that would end the game. However, to do that they would need to open a starter, super poly + have a discard. While Melo sets up its end board using a single ostinato. Meaning, that you should hopefully have some handtraps to slow them down. If you do, you can possibly get to your next turn. If you don't, you lose.

That's a good question. They're both midrange decks that are centered around board protection. I think Voiceless has the edge on Master Duel since it plays around Maxx C and Nibiru, while melodious has a hard time against those cards. Also, VV is a lot easier to pilot so you're less prone to misplays. On the other hand, Melodious are more flexible than Voiceless and can play through other handtraps easier. Ultimately, if we're splitting hairs, I'd say Voiceless is slightly better since it has the better Tenpai match-up. However, they're both very good choices. I imagine that the combo orientated players will perform better on Melo than VV. So be sure to base this choice on what suits your playstyle best

Bro, this is like memento 9 1 card combo.. (memento actually has more) and with a lot of play in case opponent hand trap us. And ofc very weak to board breaker. Memento has stronger ceiling and doesnt have restriction but melodious has more resistant with maxx c and shifter. I will try this deck later, looks so fun.
@duelperfect8 күн бұрын
You're right! It is a lot like memento. Both are crazy consistent fusion decks with a lot of gas. Melodious is a lot of fun, so I recommend it, but when the Fiendsmith engine drops, you'll want to be on Mementos then. For now, have you considered running Mementos Melodious?
@reisen95847 күн бұрын
@duelperfect @duelperfect nope. Tried melodious chimera and the deck kinda succ with too many ns. Memento also have a lot of ns. Like you said, the best pair for memento is only fiendsmith. I played melodious a little, the deck doesnt really have follow up. What's the card that can be used to recover? And you also dont include how to otk in this video, do you use something like access in turn 3 or 4? I dont see a good melodious card that can otk right away. Lastly I tried small world since saw some meta ocg used it, what do you think? It can search herald for maxx c and hand trap can search refrain (with bridge veiler and gamma)
@reisen95847 күн бұрын
Edited : there are a lot of restrictions actually lol. The main one is maestro cant be activated if we activate ash or droll (if we get maxx c), and I still dont know the combo. Since that one is kind of key card. Also small world is really good in theory, but I forgot that veiler have 0 atk and def. Maybe I was missing sometjingh but I cant small world veiler, gamma, or ogre into starter. Need some rework.
@duelperfect7 күн бұрын
@reisen9584 you're very right about the tons of restrictions. Yes, if you ash or Droll the Maxx C, you can't use the Shopina effect. The deck still has plays though. You can still end on Etiolle + Something, but it's definitely not as strong as when left uninterrupted. Other restrictions that I forgot to mention is that Bloom Harmonist locks you into Melo and Coupler can only search while you control no monsters or only Melo.
@duelperfect7 күн бұрын
@@reisen9584 Replying to your long message regarding Melo Chimera + Melo Mementos. You're right; my issue with running Melo as engine in other decks is that it clash and isn't exactly reliable. Mainly, because you need draw 1 of 3 ostinato to pop off, while you're also playing 5 other melo cards that you wouldn't want to draw. So yeah, while I have seen Melodious Pop off in Memento before, ultimately those results exist as a case study and should probably be avoided XD. This is why I say that Pure Melo is the best version of the deck. Regarding follow up. You have 2 options. 1 you use Shopina to add a Soprano from grave to hand and make another Bacha. Alternatively if you used the Shopina as material, you can use the scale effect of Couplet to search Concerto and fuse like that. Both of these lines only work in the pure end board. The Odd-eyes line has no follow up. Also, the deck struggles to OTK when going second if your opponent has an established board. The thing is, your Etiolle clears your board to clear your opponents so you generally don't have many monster's left with to attack. This isn't a deal breaker though when the deck is running tons of hand traps and can slow your opponent down until you can. Alternatively, some builds run Bloom Prima to OTK with. It works and is decent, but I prefer to play utility instead. So your small world lines are Reveal a Melo from Hand, Reveal Effect Veiler of Ogre deck, add Refrain from Deck to hand. Small World is just a consistency tool. It's good, but the deck isn't exactly starved for those. Also, while agree stopping Maxx C with Orange light is important and you can search it with small world, I think that is a bad play. Small World is a 2-for-1 and Orange light is another 2-for-1. Basically, you won't have much of a hand then.

Really great combo guide, appreciate the depth and explanations. I think the only thing I would point out is while you specifically keep your combos "in a vacuum", in reality there is a lot of flexibility and while these combos are perfect for understanding your end goal, the road to get there has lots of ways to go, especially for pure variants as opposed to people using Melodious as an engine.

Well well well, overall a solid combo guide that gets the strengths of Melodious' swarming ability. If there is one nitpick, it's a bit of optimization in two combos:1st Movement, unlike Refrain alone, has a way to get to Etoile before Nibiru on its own, even if the endboard becomes slightly weaker as a result. Also, Ostinato alone has a safe line that opts on not using Harmonist at all without even needing Shopina, if you want to go that route (Which applies more if you want to go for maximum safety, which is how the players I met want to do their combos). I assume though you learned these on your own, which is a good testament of the message you said at the beginning as to how consistent and intuitive Melodious is. Speaking of that statement... I had made a written guide with associated spreadsheet, did I ignite these complaints somehow by putting every case I could? Overall, sorry for getting into this so late and solidly done!

Hey Dude, Thanks for both taking the time to write this detailed comment and for your constructive criticism. You’re right; I did learn these combos by myself and yes you can use first movement solo to make etoile in 5 summons and your end board ends up being her + Aria. Which, is great since it’s a hell of a lot better than a single nib token XD. However, I am not too sure what you mean about the Ostinato combo, do you mean the standard line that ends on Etiole + Schuberta + Shopina + Aria? what makes Saurvis insane is ,like Hearld of ultimatness...its negate effects are not once per turn. given how insanely easy it is for Voiceless voice to summon him,cycle him back into deck/hand it makes him a real threat. once is pwerfull enough,but if you manage to get 3 on your board (which is possible ) then your opponent will have a major problem (considering how the current format relies on special summoning,especially from the extra deck)... and hey...bouncing him back to your hand also gives you a target negate to use after. i honesly see this card being limited to one in the future,either that or erretad to be once per turn.
@duelperfect28 күн бұрын
@@dakotastein9499 you hit the nail on the head. Suaravis, is well positioned in the modern meta. Like, it alone makes Tenpai players cry. You negate their Bident and then that's the end of their turn. I don't think it'll become limited, though. It definitely is in a position where it could, but Voiceless is about the only meta deck that can comfortably summon it. It also requires both a ritual spell and monsters to tribute. So it feels very balanced IMO, but we'll see in November when the next MD banlist drops 😁

Just picking up the deck because it's at my budget level, and I just want to say thank you for a simple but nonetheless essential guide for simple melodious combos! One thing if I may, personally in the corner case I think it's a good idea to assume that the opponent might have imperm'd your refrain and by altering the line a little you can still end on 2 interrupts. You still go into the link 2 but instead you summon couplet and soprano, use soprano to get back sonata, fuse soprano and couplet into bacha, bacha to summon shopina and the effect of the pends to scale themselves, search fusion with couplet and send aria with refrain, and add soprano, use ostinato to fuse shopina and the link into shuberta, pend soprano and the sonata, use soprano to fuse bacha, herself and sonata to make etoille, trigger bacha to special back aria and trigger ostinato to draw 1. You get aria+bacha+etoille and a draw! It doesnt play around nib or droll or fuwaross ofc but still I don't think it's that bad after getting handtrapped on refrain. Do you have any line you personally like to use when the opponent plays fuwaross? Right now I'm mostly ending on shuberta and hoping it's enough with some handtraps drawn, but still I wish there was a less committing line, like a way to summon etoille giving the oppo at most two draws would feel much better
@duelperfect28 күн бұрын
@@Ironpecker Hi, Sir. Happy to hear you've picked them and that I could help in whatever way 😁. Yes, that is a great way to go about if your opponent has something like an Imperm. Just gotta hope they don't have a D Shifter too 😂. To answer your question, Fuwalos is killer... You know, them chaining it to Ostinato means giving them at least 2 draws or ending on something lackluster like a single Schberta/Bloom Diva. Right now, the easiest line against them is summon refrain, search canon and make a bagooska to skip their turn. However, I am currently running 7 Fuwalos counters so it doesn't resolve too often. 3 Ash, 3 Orange Light, 1 Called by. If I owned a Fuwa, I might even consider cutting the talents for Crossout to up that number 9.

Plus, there is a line where you use 2x LV7 to make Dracosack, then link the tokens off into Cherubini, Cherub send Paidra to grave, link into Promethean princess using the Cherub and Dracosack. @duelperfectАй бұрын
@@linsquid right!? It has so much synergy with Lo. You can still tribute Lo while she is facedown for a ritual summon and she can be used as the entire tribute. Since Soul echange can target face-down opponent card, the effect will not be remove with book of moon or book of eclipse, but your opponent cannot used your face-down Lo as the entire tributed for the ritual summoned since soul exchange does not reveal the identity of the card, even if you know the identity before it got flip face-down.
@duelperfect22 күн бұрын
@@SuperNickid Yes, in general. You cannot use your opponents monsters as ritual material with Soul Exchange. As far as game mechanics are concerned, you only have knowledge of your own face down cards, even if your opponents cards were flipped face down this turn you are to treat them as though you do not have stat knowledge. This is same reason why you can't use book of eclipse and then in a new chain use super poly to fuse your opponents monster.

@@tuanninh8358 that's a good question. I'm Master Duel, Maxx C is without question the best handtrap. Every deck can play it. It can be used to stop your opponents plays when you go second and it can be used to reinforce your boards when you're going first. It's too good to pass up on. Dimension shifter, is without question the most impactful handtrap in the game through. Resolving it usually means that you and there aren't many decks that play around it. The drawback to shifter is that it is exclusively useful when drawn as one of your opening 5. Plus, playing it means that you can't run a gy deck which generally treat it's grave as a second hand. What's the plan when going second is it just to get Zealantis to banish their field and smack them for damage? Is there any support coming in the future? And Will It be good? And what's up with some of the Marincess cards not being in the secret pack it's lowkey triggering cause I now have to craft them. And with the link,synchro,fusion event coming this deck should be fine to grind all the gems from right?
@duelperfectАй бұрын
@@mxnarch349 hey dude, so lemme get to those those questions in order. 1. Yes, the deck is good for play/diamond. The footage you see is from Diamond/Master Rank. The deck is good, but it relies heavily on it's non-engine. To do well with this deck you need to know where your opponents choke points are. For the Gems, you can't go wrong with the deck given how budget it is, but there are more competitive decks out there. Currently Tenpai is speculated to be the best, but is prone to future banlists. 2. Going Second, Zelantis is your best bet. The water locks means that you get to clear your opponents board without summoning their monsters back. The deck also plays a lot of handtraps to slow you opponent down so their turn 1 end boards aren't too oppressive. Sadly, the deck struggles to OTK so they'll likely see another turn. 3. Yes, they'll be getting a new extender in Trickster Aqua Angel which is also treated as a Marincesa monster. They can also make use of Dominus Impulse when we finally get it. 4. I know right! Master Duel split all of the monsters so sadly you'll have to craft them. The deck doesn't run too many Ultra Rares though, which I guess helps. 5. It faces some tough competition in the link fest from Salamangreat, Plants and Snake-Eyes. It's not an auto-win, but it is good enough. If you need it, I've put together a comprehensive combo guide. Hi sir, is the ninja deck worth playing?

@@emmanuelgutierrez6306 sadly, no. But the deck is surprisingly cheap. The only expensive card was 1st Movement Solo which was reprinted in the tins

Brooo, question: how you play throught shifter?
@duelperfectАй бұрын
@@killjoy-sq7tw it depends on your hand, but you'd generally activate revealer to summon Ghoergius from deck and then synchro into Lancea. You do this with the Icejade + 1 discard too. It doesn't sound like much, but Lancea does a lot and summons Trish Zero to banish three from your opponents board if they dare out him

Hey there, thanks for the video! I picked up Melodious recently and this video helped me understanding a lot of basic concepts about the deck :) However, in testing, I found an Ostinato line where Ostinato + 1 discard ends on Flowering, 2x Schuberta, Aria and Shopina without using the normal summon at all. I am not sure if the combo is "undiscovered" but I figured I might want to share it somewhere. I have a DB replay link but yt doesnt like links. :D

Im torn with 2-3 mirror mage
@duelperfectАй бұрын
I can see why. Mirror Mage combos extremely well with Swap Frog, Icejade and Revealer. So playing 3 means you open it and one of those more often. The tricky part is making space. Like, you kinda need a high handtrap count to deal with Yubel and Plants.

@@alexismainguy2794 thanks bro
@duelperfectАй бұрын
@@alexismainguy2794 it's not mandatory, but it is both an extender and a starter. So it helps play through hand traps. Plus, it plus a water is full combo if you special summon it from hand, dump Mirror mage, search revealer. Normal revealer, use it's eff to summon the Ghoergius. Ghoergius effect to summon back mirror mage. Over lay into Toad as your 5th summon. Synchro in Lancea using revealer + Ghoergius
