It DOES suck to get to run, but every minute getting this game working on steam deck was worth it.

I loved 5 and verdict day. But I loved silent line and AC3 the most. My favorite series of all time. So much time as a kid did these games capture my imagination

I also replayed the 5th recently, and it's depressingly frustrating just how much of it relied on multiplayer to the point of sacrificing every other aspect. Just trying to do the order side missions really highlights the abundance of copy/paste going on to pad the single player; same handful of enemies spammed everywhere, there's only a handful of different maps, and all the enemy ACs fall into a few different archetypes. The game design shift to make the 5th generation to be hyper-realistic compared to the previous games is like a crashtest dummy smacking into a brickwall at neckbreaking velocity.

Armored Core 4 and 4A might be my favorites even after 6

Armored core 6 does have bangers. BUT DAMN THEY ARE NOWHERE NEAR AS MEMORABLE. All the ones i enjoyed most like "rough and decent" are good because they are reminiscent of older tracks with unique instrumentation. we need more guitar, synths, piano, etc.

I used to hate 5th gen mainly because of the controls and the ammo types, but I stuck with it because dammit the art style is amazing! Safe to say I really really like the 5th gen now. It took some adjustment, especially if you’re used to 4th gen, but I found the gameplay to be pretty deep once you get the hang of it

You should take a look at Frame Glide (or Gride, translated to engrish) for the Dreamcast. Theres a minor rumor that there was a Armored Core intended for Dreamcast, and it turns out FG was actually the original Armored Core 2 but SEGA and FromSoft had some sort of disagreement. They're also responsible for arena descriptions.

The destruction ending really took me by surprise, as someone who thinks the stories in both of these games are pretty poorly told. I like to imagine that your player character knows that the mission is a trap, but "kill anything you see" is the only thing that can get his attention. He's like a rabid animal, just as Roadie says. Also side note, the ORCA route ending is a bastard on Hard Mode as well. Otzdarva/Thermidor takes his meds and makes it a 3v1 in a closed space against two of the meanest Lynxes (and Roy).

If you start master of arena with a fresh save file instead of importing you actually get a cutscene explaining how nineball killed your family. no idea why that gets cut out when you do the option probably like 90% of the people who bought this game did

To be honest, I found the difficulty just right, and overall on the easy side. I struggle much more with the older AC games, but 6 was my first so make of that what you will. Imo 6 feels the most Gundam out of any game in the series- which is to say, you mow down chaff by the hundreds and get serious when you're duelling another super special anime character with an edgy backstory. This is a plus for me as a mecha fan, but maybe it's jarring to long time AC fans. Also, after going back to play the 4th and 3rd gen games, this is the only instalment that made me feel anything for the story and characters. The supporting cast are all charming and full of personality, even the one-off pilots. Playing AC4 and FA after this was weird man, I remember getting to the end of FA and being shocked that two Lynxes had a short 2 line exchange with each other, for the most part it felt like the game may as well not have a story.

Last raven is my first AC game. When jump on nexus it just feels odd as the bot is too easy for me. The only comparable to Last raven for me are ACFA and ACVD. Those 2 games quite easy if you play casually but if you are like me who love to reach S rank without cheesing strat then they are feels hard

I've finished both this game and Silent Line on PSP and when I went back to do another playthrough of 3, it shocked me as to how much of a difference it makes when you play the game knowing a bunch of the mechanics of the game. I coasted through the Arena without upgrading much and it felt so satisfying.

only issue so far is the ending, not nescesseraly rushed or anything, but confunsing. then again i'm playing gold edition and for some reason cutscenes do not work.
