Good video. I have a 1650 Rebel XS Sport (similar to yours) with a 90hp. It is a great boat for inland Ontario waters including the East side of Georgian Bay (Moon River, Parry Sound area, etc.). It does get harsh on windy days on the big lakes like Couchiching and the Kawarthas... A flat Lake Ontario was so much fun (72 km/h, empty with two guys), but a windy Lake Erie forced me back. The boat has its +/-. It gets to tight smaller spots and fits in my typical residential garage.

I’m thinking about buying the same boat and live in the area(Southern Maryland). I figured I would mostly stay in the rivers but go out in the bay when it’s calm. Are you still happy with your purchase of this boat???
@drachenz10 ай бұрын
Yes I am! Sometimes I do want a bigger boat, but being able to put it away in my garage is key for me (that has saved a lot of nature/weather damage over the last several years). It's definitely not the best boat for the bay, but on calmer days you can definitely get out there. I've taken my boat to the Inner Harbor, St. Michaels, Hart Miller Island etc. I sometimes fantasize about seeing if I can make it out to Smith Island (edited: from Point Lookout, of course)

Thanks for the video. I've heard these things last forever, and other sources say they don't last more than 5 to 10 years. What I do know is, I've had to clean mine once a winter the past few years. And this year when I cleaned it (twice), it hasn't fixed the issue. Luckily it is only September so I only set the heat on for the nighttime (at night indoor temperature has been getting to the low 60's). I ordered a new sensor that will come in a few days. And until then, the wife and I will just use an electric space heater in the bedroom at night.

We have a Goodman horizontal type furnace (mounted in the attic). Question Please: Are the burners and sensor now mounted differently (w/burners now going from top to bottom, rather than left to right) or are they still mounted like we see in this video (left to right)? I will clean the sensor today or replace if needed. Thanks for doing this video. Phil NYC Area
@drachenz2 жыл бұрын
Disclaimer I am not an HVAC technician :) From other videos I have seen it looks like the horizontally installed ones are turned over including the inside so the burner would be vertical (top to bottom) on the left or right side. However I believe they all work the same and have the same parts, just mounted differently. I would also suggest before turning off the unit to check the sight glass on the bottom (or in your case the side that doesn't have the burners, but houses the control board) to see if there are any blinking codes. These can help diagnose the issue. If the light is blinking a code take note of what the pattern is because once you shut off the power to the unit it clears the code. On the inside of the cover panel should be a label which indicates what condition the code represents. I'm in MD so I know the cold has arrived! Good luck! Last but not least, the best source of info I have found on diagnosing furnace issues is a KZbin channel called "Word of Advice TV". He has a number of videos of troubleshooting and fixing various issues that are informative and easy to follow. Hope you're able to get it fixed yourself!

@@drachenz Thanks for the information. Helpful. I have watched Word of Advice channel quite a bit before (He helped me solve a AC problem a few years ago). I did ask about this issue yesterday, but have not heard back from him since yesterday. He's now in Hawaii and quite a bit different hours from the East Coast. Thanks very much again for your detailed reply. Appreciated. Phil Jersey Shore area...

I had a similar issue this year at the start of the heating season. Thinking it was the cheap-o Amazon replacement I purchased when the issue of this video was fixed, I found and bought an OEM replacement. But, this didn't fix it. Turns out this time I had a block preventing the condensation from exiting the flue/inducer. I ended up taking out the condensation p-trap and finding a stinkbug lodged in there and various other debris which I cleaned out and resolved the issue. However it manifested itself similarly to the issue described in this video. So - if the flame sensor doesn't fix it, you could have a block somewhere preventing the condensation from draining away. This apparently prevents one of the pressure switches from closing (on my Goodman model at least) and snuffs out the flame. I didn't make a video of that but it is definitely a bit more involved than switching out the flame sensor.

Great video. Making the trip this summer in 21ft boat. Not sure on travel time from Sandy point to Inner Harbor.... running average mph of 25. Any advice is appreciated 👍
@drachenz2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! I don't recall the exact travel time it took but it was around an hour. I was mostly keeping it around ~22-23 since a 16.5' aluminum can't handle the chop like bigger boats. Also it's no wake zone from Ft McHenry all the way to the harbor which is a pretty decent distance. At least there's a lot to look at! Biggest advice from a smaller boat owner is to watch the wind and wave forecasts since even when it looks like a nice day there can easily be 2-3 ft waves on the bay.

How long was it from sandy to the inner harbour
@drachenz3 жыл бұрын
It took an hour at least... I wasn't paying too close attention to the time, plus we didn't go directly there in either direction. Also to note, it's no wake zone starting at Ft. McHenry which drastically slows things down. I was doing around 25mph... I can go over 40 but 25 was about the limits of our comfort in the Bay chop. A bigger boat would've definitely helped! :) Either way it was a fun trip! Thanks for watching!

8:36 Trim up for less drag, more efficiency 😉
@heatmoon2 жыл бұрын
Trimming up is not really a thing to do in Lund, they are deep V and not speed boats, keeping your bow down might drag but it's safer. It's funny to watch people trim up so much thinking there is no end to gains. Taking your bow out of the water in bigger waves can lead to some serious jack knifing back and force. I done it in a 16' Lund on lake of the woods when wind came up suddenly. Steering wanted to tear my arm off ramming the bow into a wave. Lost my cool, stupid, went fast nearly lost control.
@DanielSon692 жыл бұрын
@@heatmoon trimming up for some better speed, efficiency and a potentially smoother ride isn’t an issue in my Lund, an 18’ Impact XS. Nor in my friends 16’ Rebel, or my other friends 17’ Impact. Or in any previous deep hull aluminum in my past. If you look carefully at the time frame I quoted ( 8:36 ) the water was flat and smooth. At no point was I advocating max trim up in big waves.
@timross70463 жыл бұрын
Is there a lot of difference in ride on rough chop with a 1750 impact or even a 1850 impact ?
@KemDog3 жыл бұрын
Yes, there is no 17.5’ aluminum boat on the market that does really well in rough water. 18.5’ is the size, and Lund’s IPS2 hull is a game changer in rough water.
@DanielSon692 жыл бұрын
My 1775 Impact XS handles rough chop surprisingly well (Georgian Bay in Ontario). It’s 17’10” long and ~96” beam. The 18’ Impact is maybe 10-12” longer, similar beam. I suspect the difference would barely be noticeable.

Congrats on the new boat! Glad you liked the video. I took it out today on the Potomac River and had super calm flat water... so i did some speed runs!
