Gosh you hit the ball out of the park ! and I was shooting over 20 years ago, pre digital age. We were slowly weaned away from artistic shots and proper action shots with fab blurred backgrounds to clinical, sterial "carpark"shots. Its one of the reasons that I stopped ! and as for bitching in motorsport and in sports in general, but there are some fantastic guys and girls out there that will help you out. As for the tyre wall hornets nests, mud stinging nettles and even people in the crowd throwing coins at you just for being on the inside of the track ! All I did was pick the coins up and bought a beer at the end of the day Am back into shootin sports now and trying all sorts of shots, panning, zooming, shutter drag and god knows what else, and an having fun and even if the editor does not use them they like them as do the drivers/athletes . With todays gear it's sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo easy to get different shots try it with film and a deadline, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh keep these vids going and keep telling it as it is .

The coins are long gone, but if they want to throw their phones (as long as they're in a sturdy case) I'll be happy to trade them in!! Too many people scared to be honest in case they get creds removed, as you'll know, it's always been the case!

Good video mate. Your last one encouraged me to make the hike to Tower. That's a great spot. The old footage was good too. In never knew that was how it was configured.

Tower is great, it's oddly relaxing (until someone parks in the barrier and you suddenly realise how fast they're going!) It frustrates me that so many people turn up to Croft and just shoot at the first and last turns, and the Chicane. Glad that something I put up here is actually useful!!

You're exactly right. I have done video work for a US college football organization for over a decade. When it comes down to it, all they really want is that check presentation shot held for 25 seconds. Cover the event first and tell a story. Anything fun and artsy is just a bonus.

Always! Football is a sport I'd love to shoot (just for a game or two - I wouldn't want to step in front of photographers who have the right to be there.) I've been an avid fan since NFL launched in the UK on TV in 1982, and NCAA in 2002, played a bit myself in the 80s. It looks a challenge though!

Honest, down to earth advice and many thanks. I am a 71 year old happy snapper that normally takes wildlife shots. However, Brands Hatch is only a short drive away and I love going to track days etc for a good days shooting. Just subscribed 🙂 Steve

Thanks Steve. Brands can be a real challenge with those fences! I think it's a really rewarding place - I've shot both sides of the fence there and I love the place. Won't be back there until BTCC at the end of the season - hopefully it'll be crazy hot like last October.

Good to see you over the weekend, hope you got some good shots, and didn't get too wet. My feet were a state over the weekend! Lenses - Sigma 150-600, Canon nifty 50 and my workhorse (which isn't as sharp as I'd like) a Tamron 18-400. The Tamron is a good fit for me because of the massive range shift - I can go trackside to pits without carrying a second camera set up !

Don’t want to negative but the British GT is becoming the best series by quite some way the highest quality drivers including fia platinum, ranked drivers and also much bigger grids plus it’s on sky F1 also the KZbin videos get anywhere between 50k to 250k on GTWorld KZbin channel so it’s easier to watch

If you go to the inside of duffas (spectator path)you get a good view of the aftermath and then cars cutting the left hander then trying to get squared up and brake for mcintyres

Unfortunately not, the lens on the camera kind of went kaput. There will be a few hundred photos going online soon, and a hundred or so from Croft last year. AASP does appear in a few!
