Captain Kirk is gonna be sending Sulu down to the planet to make first contact instead of the anonymous white guy who always gets killed.

There's a huge difference between personally knowing somebody and especially being friends, versus only working together. Also, don't forget that actors aren't their characters in real life.

George has been an obsessed crybaby for 50 years. He's totally envious of Bill's career post Trek. When Bill went into space, George said why did they choose an old, obese man. What if Shatner replied "because they didn't want an old, bitter gay man". George will die being jealous and hateful. And that's truly sad.

Sounds like two clashing personalities. George seems petty and Bill can come across as pompous. But that’s about it.

Yeah hearing that I started digging into my TOS repertoire and he's right, Sulu had hardly any lines and mostly just stared back at the captains chair. He wasn't in many chapters, as someone that carried the name Sulu in star trek history would be thought to be. Also in the movies they seldon interacted beyong "Mr Sulu take us about to 436.7". The trinity was McCoy, Kirk and Spock. So nothing he said can be debunked. Its because we see the edited show and watch it over and over that maybe seen that they were like a big family. TOS isn't TNG.

George Takei lately is becoming even more unhinged. Far Left Loony Toon idiot. He wants to abolish the Constitution and put something worse in its place. The dude is utterly insane.

growing up in the 60's and 70's I could get to this road with a short hike through the woods behind my house. The two ends weren't paved connected back then. At some point the paving ended but you could get through following the tire track trails to the beginning of the other paved end four wheeling. I used to ride my dirt bike on it. You can see it's still a very narrow windy secluded road. I remember where there was a building that apparently burned down but didn't know it was a school. I was never on that road at night or ever heard of or saw any paranormal activity. There was also another dilapidated building in the woods at the granite quarry in the same general area. I always wondered what that building was for. It was a full size "home" with second story. Even had an old busted up piano so I don't think it was an office for the quarry.

Shatner worked day and night, Takei only came to shoot his scenes for a day or two.. when Shatner got more screen time and they took Takei's screen time, he couldn't swallow it, so the one sided feud began.. I don't think Shatner intentionally stole screen time from others, he just worked, was passionate and wanted to do more, but never realized that more meant less for others..

Takei is another self-important leftist. He does absolutely nothing and thinks that whatever small roles he had here and there or his politics or him being gay makes him someone of incredible consequence, and everyone needs to know what he has to say. Both he and Shatner have huge egos, but the difference is that Shatner isn't a sanctimonious prick.

Here's the difference. Takei has put his personality defects out there for all to see. You only know about Shatner's personality defects from hearsay. One is certain. The other relies on the credibility of whoever's passing on the rumor. That's why Shatner comes out of this looking like the better man.

@@exapplerrelppaxe7952 Not sure I understand the context of your comment. Perhaps you are suggesting I am not thinking clearly in my response? How disappointing. I responded to your comment, as I felt it was well thought out and articulated, even if I don't necessarily agree 100% with it. Instead of addressing my comment for what it was, you respond with a personal insult. In doing so, you've managed to insult yourself in a far more powerful manner, than the juvenile comment you made about me.

I had to stop following Takei years ago because his stuff was so mean-spirited. Then I read where he just pays people to write his posts, which somehow makes it worse. He's just a fading star trying to stay relevant, and pros like Shatner are easy targets. Shatner knows it, too. No reason to get in the gutter with those types.

I get where William Shatner is coming from. I couldn't tell you the first thing about my co-workers private lives. I go in, I do my thing, I go home. I'm polite, we have the usual chitchat. That's it. I neither like nor dislike them. We're there to do a job. Movies are shot what, over 12 weeks or so? And it's not like every actor is in every scene together. I'd wager on a film like Wrath of Khan they met a few times in rehearsal, then on set, and I imagine they barely spent more than a couple of days or week together in total.

Takei is a diva. He felt slighted by everyone and was always envious of the limelight. Others were hurt that Shatner didn't take a personal interest in them, but Shatner never wronged them. He did his job. He was a professional. He never insulted any of them like Takei does him.

I've actually seen behind-the-scenes silent films from some of the original shoots showing Shatner as a practical joker and he appeared to be annoying to others on the set. Shatner was a prima donna actor and was likely insensitive to the "little people" on the set. Age has brought his ego down a bit, but you can just imagine the ego he had in the heyday of Star Trek. That he barely remembers them at all is your first clue.

I suppose if you wanted to know what the beef was, you could take the same amount of time this speech took to go see what the man said. Or just ask one of your associates who is well versed in the lore of the only reason you are famous. But here we see just a repetition of the statement that in 50 years, you haven't bothered to do so. That does smack of the sense that this lesser light was not worth even that much time, that he could not possibly have had a point, and he should merely be grateful to have briefly enjoyed the radiance of his betters. If a key-grip writes a tell-all about the abuses of a famous director on his shoots, I don't imagine the great auteur would get much mileage declaiming that honestly, he never noticed the man. Declaring that you didn't notice the people around you is not the best defense against accusations of mistreatment Bill.
