greetings 🙌 I'm a new subscriber to your channel 🙂 you're a very good martial snare percussionist 🥁🤗 that's one of my dreams, to learn how to conduct the Martial snare like this 😊 in the region of the country I live in there are no music schools or any teachers who know how to conduct like this 😔 this makes me sad because I really wanted to know how to play martial snare like you and the rest of the marching bands. One suggestion: well you could do vifeos teaching from the beginning, I believe that a lot of people have this dream too and they don't Do you know where to start just like me... I already wish you success with your channel🙌🙏 congratulations 👏👏👏 and don't forget to think about my suggestion, okay? I would love to be your student😍 even from a distance

Any tips to be able to play this?
@brandonjohnsondrums

Yeah, take one of the patterns, say bar 1. Play it very slowly with a metronome, then play the right hand on the head and the left hand on the rim. Check your rhythms to see if they are the correct interpretation. Next, check your technique. Are you relaxed? Are you bouncing? Are you too tense, causing the rhythms to be crushed? The switch hands and do the same. Make sure you understand everything that's happening in the grid's regular version and how the rudiment stacks agains the pattern. How are your hemiolas? Because that's what this exercise is based on. Hope this helps.

Memories. I was Southwind's very first percussion caption head & writer in 1981 and 1982. After marching snare with Spirit of Atlanta in 1980 I was contacted by Southwind and accepted this responsibility. I was a music ed student at Auburn University at the time and after graduating in 1983 became a band director. Fun times and memories. I wish you well Southwind. Do well and enjoy yourselves. You will remember this time for the rest of your lives.

I first saw someone do the "Anaheim Stick Toss" in 1977. I knew I had to learn that one for sure. Little did I know I would be marching under D.C.I. Hall of Fame Legend Tom Float only three years later. The Kingsmen made this popular and we had it in the show for first tour in Atlanta until Float cut it for less ticks. Memories.
