Very poorly. I get defroster, which was what I needed at the time and is the only critical function, but it really doesn't blend properly to the mode selected.

Nice video and glad it came apart so easily, I hope mine comes apart that easy. As for those bottom guide pins, the bores must be cleaned of ALL the old grease before and clean grease applied only to the pin bushing, it’s best to buy a new boot kit, clean the pin and bore then grease the pin.

I'll try to add that note in the video, thanks. I don't suppose you have replaced the lower control arms? I'm in the middle of driver side and am stuck. My '05 is AWD. I can't seem to raise up the tranny enough to get the tranny mount out. One video has the guy disconnecting the sway bar, subframe, exhaust pipe, etc and I can't believe it takes all that.

@@notme22 So it's true, the stearing wrack, sway bar, and exhaust have to be free? Do you recall if I have to remove the passenger side engine dog bone engine isolator, if that's what it's called? It's basically the upper engine mount.

Good vid, one of the only I could find about strut disassembly! I have done this a few times, but wanted conf for the Rx330 on what to order. There are a lot of parts listed and not much info. One tip, if you remove the other side sway bar link, you can rotate the bar a bit for some more play and get the end link in. Hope it helps someone! Thank you.

Thanks Tim.. just did both rear bearing in about 2hrs thanks to your video.. 2 things that might help viewers. 1 to get bearing out of dust shield I found placing dust cover with e brake attached inside the opening of a 2.5 gallon bucked then whacking it with a 3lb hammer popped it right out. 5 gallon buck does not work..too big and damages dust cover. 2nd is your new axel bolt may be a 6 point so you'll also need a 30mm 6 point socket. 12 point you used to take off won't work.

Thanks. Best video for this job online. It really helps. Great resource for information. My only input: I would suggest removing the vehicle speed sensor from the hub before removing the wheel bearing hub. Once the axle is loose, it could damage that sensor. Oh, and the measurement for the spindle nut is taken from the valleys of the 12 point, not the peaks. This is very confusing since there are reportedly 2 different size bolts on the rx330 - 30mm and 32mm. AND the peaks on a 30mm nut will measure 32mm!!! Anyway, to anyone reading, if the peaks of the nut measure roughly 32mm (as did mine), you have a 30mm (axle) spindle nut. Measure straight across the middle from peak to peak.

Good thought, about lining up the hole of the rotor with the correct hole in the hub. I wonder how many guys who do brakes will remember to do that. Some don't even adjust tension on the star wheel after.

Thanks for the compliment. Just be sure to line up the spring properly. I knew better but had gotten distracted and ended up being just off. I don't recall where the bumper is sold, but surely it can be found because it is separate from the strut as well as the boot. Good luck, and hope the vid helps.

Anyone trying this dont buy your hub assembly from duralast(autozone) the holes in the front face arent large enough for the flanged bolt or the socket.
@sandeepkundra70705 жыл бұрын
Hi: First of all, the video was really helpful; I figure that what you walked through saved me $400-500 by doing the job myself versus what the dealer or even an independent shop was quoting. A few things I did differently, first I order the FCS quick strut assembly that came with spring preinstalled so I didn't have to deal with compressors or other items. Using those also took less time, plus felt safer and I didn't need to deal with the side to side tensioning issues. Vehicle for me is a 2004 RX330 AWD, so all the items you pointed out were what I needed. It was about $100 per strut to buy the assembly on Amazon. I noticed that the two big bottom bolts were some type of white coating, not sure if it was original grease or some type or threadlocker. I did not grease the bolts, but did put medium blue thread lockjust under the nut on them when reinstalling. Also, to get the bottom bracket to fit into place, I needed to push the hub up and inward, not sure if you experienced that, I was able to push them up enough with my hands and my knee to get the first bolt in, then little more pushing & wiggling to fit the second bolt. I didn't need to jack the hub assembly up, the sway bar link fit with just a little wiggling and pressing on the sway bar. I also dropped a nut from the old struts when removing them, then one of the new ones when installing; like you I am wondering where that thing went. I was able to reuse one of the old nuts, one difference was the original struts had 14mm nuts, the new ones 15mm. Using a deep socket helped not drop a socket into that space, but in cleanup I am still missing one impact socket. Thanks again for taking the time to make the video; hopefully it will be helpful to others as well. Cheers

How are the FCS struts holding up?? I’m about to buy them for my 2008 Rx but can’t find much on them in reliability and ride
@sandeepkundra70703 жыл бұрын
@@christopherchino7706 They are holding up OK. I got them because someone on the Lexus forum reported a good experience with FCS, versus the other brands that the person tried. The driving feel is OK, maybe not as crisp as the original, but you have to factor in that other parts also have had some wear. At least the replacement units are not leaking like the originals started to do, needing the replacement. Based on the experience, I just can't see paying someone to replace the rear strut assembly based on the relative ease, short time, and the fact you can do the work with a few hand tools.

Just did this for a 2006 RX400h. What a pain! Separating the backing plate and hub assembly required disassembly of the brake shoes, removing the brake cable, and placing the backing plate on jack stands in order to have a full swing with 5 lb sledge.
