Shawn Goldman

Deep Heart Orthodox is an ongoing immersion into the Scripture, theology, and spirituality of the Eastern Orthodox tradition, through the eyes of Shawn Goldman, a convert from Judaism. Shawn's journey began in a traditional Jewish home in Toronto, Canada, took him into the depths of the Zionist movement while serving in a combat unit of the IDF. After realizing that something was broken in the Zionist dream, he found his way back home to the Messiah, the anointed One, Christ the Mashiach. Shawn's journey to the Orthodox faith was also the journey of his son Kai's battle with terminal brain cancer and the realization that we are all Son's of the loving Father. Join Shawn as he explores his and Kai's journey through Scripture, the writings of the Fathers, liturgy, iconography, and Hesychasm while exploring the deeper questions of our souls yearning for meaning, connectivity and truth.

To me, when I have seen a Mandorla I have always had two different kinds of responses. To me it looks like a womb, and Christ emerging from a womb. Another impression is that it seems like an irruption of the Divine into our space, to use a science fiction kind of language kind like a interdimensional portal that face in two directions--into our world and into the Divine World.
