I live in Chicago and I've seen this level of resentment aimed towards children who aren't even old enough to speak yet.

That being said there's another problem with these type of moms - no emphasis on education. Another negative aspect. Ricky always focused on sports. Not his fault that's his mom's fault. That's it. It's a poisonous mindset. EVEN in "Original Gangstas" (a Rodney King-hating movie unlike this one) - Jack Trevor and Laurie Thompson also got it wrong. It was even worse - Kenny Thompson focused on basketball when he could have been studying. Sports (especially baseball and basketball) should also be a secondary thing. It's not something that's good for someone who's just middle class or working class. Someone like Diddy or Jay-Z could afford that luxury cause they're rich. Furious and Reva wouldn't have allowed it. They wanted Tre to truly study and not just be sports-centered. That's why Tre was the most well-rounded. That and his girlfriend Brandi. They took education seriously. It's different if it's like fighting or boxing. That's one thing. But football and even moreso baseball and basketball is too pop-oriented. And it's no disrespect to people's passions - there's really none in some sports in the long run. I feel like too many of these kids wanna be basketball players because their favorites want to be into the game. Ricky I felt was just following the crowd.

I sympathize with The mother because the father wasn’t there. She was left to raise 2 kids on her own. This is typical in the black community and we need to start asking the obvious questions, WHERE IS THE FATHER!? She’s living in the ghetto where the crime rate is out of control and she’s raising 2 boys on her own. At least Trey’s mom was able to get help from the dad. Doughboys mom had nobody. I would be angry too.

I went with friends, and the thing was, we watched Inside Out 1 as kids and Inside Out 2 as teenagers. And tbh there were a lot of things we experienced (friendship Isle being bigger then family isle (I mean I watched the first movie with my family, the second with my friends), trying to fix everything (#IcanFixHer), ect.)

I usually like commentary videos, but on this occasion I don’t feel like I got anything from this. There was no context or depth presented and I didn’t get any sense of new understanding from viewing your post. Lastly I don’t think you built a solid foundation of information leading up to your attempt to incorporate the title into the article. It’s a good idea, but study some of your contemporaries and understand not only why they use certain approaches to things like titles, but also the impact it can have on viewers. I’m rooting for you though, if the algorithm is kind I’ll be back. All the best 🤙🏾

The second sentence in this video is wrong. "Friends" was not about a group of people living in the same building. 2 of the 6 characters never live in the building except Ross very briefly. Phoebe is said to have lived with Monica before the start of the show. So you're already off. No need to put in the effort to watch your video if you don't put in the effort to know what you're talking about.

Doughboy’s treatment of women is evident from the hatred he received from his mother. The telling him he won’t amount to anything, saying he ain’t shit like his father, calling a fat f*ck at that… Dough never had his mother’s love or respect, and he knew it. “I don’t got a brother no more. I don’t got no mother either.” I think the negative influence from his mother did push Dough into the street life. He lacked nurturing, and Ricky got all of that.

Her blaming Doughboy for Ricky’s death makes sense in the context of who she is. She used her sons as living conduits for her grievances (Doughboy) and all of her desires (Ricky) and when Ricky was killed, she simply invoked them again like she had been doing throughout the film. She’s still not the best mother to them, but it does make sense. I agree with other comments re: the husbandry she feels towards Ricky.

Notice how ricky is significantly less fucked up than Doughboy. Parents are really the root of people bro its crazy because they both grew up in a toxic environment, but their mom changed both of them, with ricky obviously positively. It really shows how parents influence you shit is insane. The favoritism is also prevalent here. But I also think that it should be added while doughboy did turn into a criminal, he was a great brother to ricky, and his character had some redeeming qualities although his mom loved to act like he was just a regular piece of shit hood nigga. But ricky was also a teen parent so yea lmao

I feel like the core issue goes beyond race, the true nature of the conflict between Do-Boy and his mom is more of a socioeconomic situation (in my opinion). A lot of single mothers all over the world who have a son that came from a father who went absent/unsuportive, end up mirroring the frustration they have with the father down onto the son. Almost as if they are looking for any reason to see the fathers negative characteristics in the child as a way to put more gravity in the fact that the father needs to be more involved and process the betrayal of having a kid with someone then the person not wanting to support them or have any involvement. I am a white guy from a lower class family who had an absent father growing up, and my mom had that same mirrored resentment towards me specifically over my sister that Do-Boys mom had over him. Wasn’t till I grew up and understood that it’s a far more common issue in society than it’s brought up. As a kid you think you’re just being picked on but as an adult you can understand the psychology behind it a bit more.

I will always have the up most respect for doughboy because he did his best to look out for his lil bro Ricky the mother never cared about dough boy all because of some sht happen with there father and she took it out on him for no reason at all i also respect how he let tre out the car and kept him away from that life style as well nothing wrong with that dough boy knew he wasn't ready for that life he walked away came back home to his father and ricky girl was real live use less i don't understand why would she just make the child look at her dead father and then she hit doughboy for nothing.

Working as a teacher in the hood this common. My main issue with this is in the bIack community mothers are protected . No matter how bad a dn abusive they are its always excused because they stuck around. In. Majority cases the morher the same as the father. He abandoned them physically but the mother abandoned her kids emotionally. They are the same person.

This movie is deep when you watch this with the holy spirit How can a mother be so cruel to a young dough boy from an early age, it can effect you in a negative or positive way when growing up, yes their father wasn't around and that could've played huge factor, but loving your kids unequally is not right man, dough boy deep down was maybe hurt, and it effected him in a negative way This movie is a good message

To be fair, that's because they really got the baby to cry for the scene which is kind of messed up. They purposely scared the kid and yelled in his ear to make him cry for the Ricky death scene.

I think it would’ve been dope to see that Dough it lived on and his mom becomes a bass head and dough boy is raising his nephew cause Ricky’s girlfriend died of an overdose after Ricky’s death. Not many stories of uncles taking care of nephews or nieces and becoming their father figure, also more powerful that the brother of your father is the one to lead you in the right direction. Dough boy could’ve been like Tre’s dad Furious.

I kinda wonder how she felt in the end having lost both of her kids and knowing that she treated Doughboy like garbage just because she was stupid enough to open up her legs for his dad.
