I love this tool! I wore one out, and sent it back for repair. The cost was very reasonable, and the return was very prompt! I have been doing my horses hooves with a Boss for 4 years now. Thanks for your great product and service!

I use a Proxxon longneck angle grinder. Any input on whether Hoof Boss is better?
@eternalbliss11687 ай бұрын
Love this tool easy to use, I have both battery and corded versions. I use mainly on my goats as the horses keep their feet worn down. Because of the smaller size disks it works great for intricate work on problem areas.

Thank you for demonstrating your skills at Cog Hill Farm - their goats and pigs certainly seemed to be grateful 😄

Eh it’s better than nothing but like you said it’s important for people to know where things are made, and assembly isn’t making, it translates to the consumer as putting Chinese pieces together. Don’t be afraid to quantify how much or little is domestically produced, the honesty is always appreciated, the room for interpretation is gone, and some is always better than none.

We appreciate your insightful comment and the opportunity it gives us to provide further clarification. You're absolutely right about the value of honesty in how products are made. To shed more light on the matter, 88% of our vendors are American companies. Out of the 34 vendors we collaborate with to create our tool, only four are from outside the US; three in China and one in India. It's worth noting, however, that some of the American companies we source from likely obtain parts internationally, although our transactions are primarily with American businesses. We're continuously working towards boosting that percentage and supporting domestic production.

Looks great for false soles. I think I would still finish with a rasp though.

Just ordered this. Hoping it can help me get my horse's hooves done since no farrier has been able to trim my horse. No matter how much I have worked with him he still has an issue with the farriers that have come out. In the long run, this will save me $$ too. $75 for a trim adds up.

So read all the comments. From my perspective, this tool has really been a game changer for me. But I live in a remote area where there are no farriers in my area. So, I have had to learn. I am 65 years old and have small hands and wrists. Regular farrier tools are hard for me to use. They are meant for mens hands. I don't use the chainsaw attachment at all..too aggressive. But the grinder really helps me a lot. I finish off with a rasp. This tool is really not meant for professionals, (in my opinion), but for the person trimming their own horse, well worth it!

It’s the equivalent to women who file their nails, in fact there’s and invention exactly like this to trim dog and cats nails but no one is getting mad over those. Same here it’s a light shave if you keep going over the one spot you can go too deep but he’s keeping it moving.

I still had to use my grinder with a 40 grit flap disk to smooth out the soles and sides. Plus trying to reduce the toe with the hoof boss was challenging to say the least. In all the videos I never saw a horse being trimmed with its hoof on topof a stand All the videos are of the hoof being on a stand with the bottom facing the farrier. The amount of chips thrown out by the hoof boss was considerable which added to my horses and my discomfort. The safety guard switch also at times wasn't the easiest or smoothest to operate. I had to consistently re work my finger pressure to get it to release. Finally would I recommend this tool? On a scale of 1-10, my answer would be about a 6 or 7. It makes no sense to just rely on this tool alone as you still need a file or grinder to smooth things out. Plus it is not variable speed which would make it a better tool.

I have found the tool pretty easy to use for the top of the hoof as well. when used correctly, it can create a nice bevel on the hoof. Then I finish it off by doing a good old fashioned rasping to make it look smooth.

I would challenge a professional hoof trimmer using that tool to a competition with me using a 1955 - $50 hoof shear and a a $60 Swiss hook knife with a $200 Swiss hoof shaping file. That looks like a fine tool for polishing hooves for show but for production moving through 400 sheep and goats in a day…I would have to see it to believe it.
@viscache12 жыл бұрын
That really looks like you could spend all day trimming 4 sheep! What is the advantage of using this over a $35.00 hoof trimmer shear? My sheep are 340lbs and would fight like champs if I spent five or 10 minutes per hoof with a grinding vibrating tool. I would really need to be convinced that there is some sort of benefit to this other than polishing for show!

Actually, neither hoof trim is complete but the manual trim is awful. Lee would not be my farrier. Also the replacement cutters, especially the carbide ones, are over $50 with shipping, which is too expensive.
