Funny story my dad had one about 20 years ago or so I saw that old dump truck by Iowa . There was no mistaken it was the truck just a faded paint job.

On my '14 CTD model I had a nightmare with the DEF system due to a bad NOX2 sensor (original factory one). It was replaced under warranty with the updated one and no issues since. But now I sometimes get the P2002 code with the DPF and I drive highway miles most of the time everyday mostly 2-lane 60mph roads. I do the regen, eventually it clears on its own but few weeks later comes back. I know if that DPF goes under the car is finished unless I can do away with it somehow. Its a great car and has good FE, but the emission junk holds it back big time.

While in neutral, kick up the idle to 2200rpm and set cruise control to speed up pto. Your bed will move faster.

Okay, changing my comment, although it's a similar sentiment. There's a lot of work to this, but I loved your idea of using zipties on the rainrail, as my rivet gun would not put a rivet all the way through the rail. So that worked out much better. I used your video as a guide, but I didn't take anything out of the car other than the top, rear plastic and the rainrail. I left the entire rollbar, and the frame of the top in place. But I did take out the rear plastic and the windscreen on top of the rollbar to give me a little room. Then when I was installing the new top, I connect the side bars of the rainrail almost blind just feeling by hand. Then I installed the rest of the top onto its frame, and after I buttoned up the top bar at the front of the top, I pulled it tight and latched it. That allowed me to just move both seats forward and lean them forward, so standing behind them, I put all the rest of the middle rainrail nuts on, and tightened them all up. Yes it was cramped, but not having to take all that other crap out was great. I really liked your vid though, and enjoyed the music.

Just wanted to say a big kuddos and thank you for the excellent camera work and many angles. Excellent job!

Apologies if this has already been asked and answered, but which top is this? I'm trying to decide what to buy and the price range from $400-$1000+ indicates a pretty big range in quality. Is this a cloth or vinyl top?
@themaskednebraskan5 ай бұрын
Sorry I didn't see this sooner, this was a vinyl one, it was right at $500. It seemed pretty decent, but if your planning on keeping yours for more than a few years I think I'd aim for better quality.

I appreciate the work done to show us all what is involved, however I am trying to understand the Musak playing over the audio? I can hear you talking behind the music at times but cannot make out the commentary, too bad. Also, I know how to unhook a spring from the cable, would have much preferred to find out how the top release but comes off without breaking it so that you can remove the rear molding.

The row of lights fell out of mine too, it's a manufacturer defect. The glue they used wears off after about 5 years and a slight bump will make them fall. Just apply some super glue along the inside black edges when you reinstall and it'll never come off again.

These are good trucks I've owned 5 or 6 of them so far and they have Been the most reliable trucks I've ever owned. Of course they aren't that fast lol but they get the job done with no problem. Also it's not a "dt444e" it's just a T444e the the other engine that came in those trucks was the Dt466e standing for "direct injection, turbo, electronic. That is why the older non turbo motors such as the 6.9idi and 7.3idi that stood for "in-direct injection ". But anyways take care of that old girl and she will take care of you because that is literally the life of those trucks keep up with maintenance on her and she will never give you problems. Like I said I have owned 5 or 6 identical trucks same drivetrain in all of them just like yours t444e 7.3 with a spicer 5sp manual trans. I only owned one that had the dt466 and a 7+1 manual trans but like I said great great trucks you can't go wrong with them
