Never ended up getting around to a long enough outing to really kill the battery and need a solar panel. Eventually want to get one but they are expensive

I've ordered mine they are a lot quieter only thing I see is the speed difference original is 5500 new ones are 4500= 1000 rpm difference airflow is almost the same original is 4.9cfm new is 4.8 cfm Hope this helps anyone thinking of changing the fans out I forgot about the noise origanl is 21.0db new ones are 17.9db

Loving it still. The radio has survived now, to and back on military air to Germany. On the return trip the rail got bent near vfo knob front side. This was from my duffel bag getting tossed around. I took the rail off the radio and hammered it against some wood carefully to bend it back and good as new! Much better protection than other rails and even with the bent rail it the vfo knob never got hit so it probobly saved my radio.

Soldering a silver plated terminal connector like the Anderson power pole, can be risky, if the solder runs off it'll cover or ruin the silver plating, causing it a it less good electrical connection (higher contact resistance). But if you don't care about that then you can solder it. I just think crimping alone is good though for this connector, if the wire size is a good fit.

For those of you wondering. The connectors are JST ZH 1.5mm. The fans are 04010SS-12L-AA-00 and have a similar cfm to the noctuna fans.

I just got my buddistick not that long ago as well and have an 891 manpack setup similar to yours, a la The Tech Prepper. Something you may or may not be interested in; the whole buddistick PRO Deluxe setup will fit inside a Maxpedition 12x5 water bottle pouch. You'll also have room for your Rig Expert stick in the outer pocket. Better way to transport the antenna system IMO, especially if you like to MOLLE all the things like I do.

Good job I own 3 ft891 good value for money But i blew ipo att on one Still receives normal ok I was tx on 160m vertical and had it connected to my 80m dipole It was turned off Never thought it would hurt it but it did So be careful with that seems common problem with 991 too

Highly suggest it. Don’t make it out to be the scary boogie man. Just do it. I took mine online and it was very straight forward. Study some and take the practice tests then take it. With being able to do it online they do them at all times of day and there’s no driving all the way there just to fail. Worse case scenario you fail and have to get back online and try again. The longer you wait the more it builds up to be the big cumbersome task.

Thanks for the video ! I was kinda concerned when there was no tape to open box did yours ? Also that is was not in plastic after opening box again was yours ? Also the stop sticker that was on it wasn't covering over from pulling off cap on end ..... kinda wonderd if I got a open box .... thanks again for the unboxing to get started with it ... 73's N7ZXG

I used the mounting screws that come with the noctua fan. Just typical standard computer fan mounting screws.
