YES perfect, i used to times a yellow channel, by my scalar, then add the blue back in before multiplying the actual normal map, but sometimes it wouldn't work, this works flawlessly! better than any other normal map manipulation video i have seen, VERY NICE!

why do you show the wrong way if its not gona even work
@kathoden1352 жыл бұрын
Maybe because that's what ones to mind first to a beginner. The actual wrong way is using the flatten normal node.

Why was B value appended as 1 instead of the original B-value from the texture slot?

cool! how did you do this?

great! thank you :)
@AlexTuduran3 жыл бұрын
Great tut, but why haven't you take the B channel from the texture sampler and plug it as B to your Append node instead of appending a constant? You have the B value at your disposal for free. A lot of normal maps feature valuable information in the B channel.
@jojjo2233 жыл бұрын
Neat! I've also seen people use the "FlattenNormal" node. Kind of the same effect but inverted!
@kathoden1352 жыл бұрын
Inverting the flatten normal node introduces annoying artifacts since all it does is keep between the primary normal and Z colour, basically flattening the original normal. It's a horrible node tbh.
