Here’s a few more 1 the weather sucks. 2 people that are from here can’t drive in the snow. 3 the traffic is absolutely atrocious. 4 the constant road maintenance just to have fucked up roads right after they finish. 5 they lay down sand for the snow and guess what they don’t pick it up after the snow melts. 6 the people are rude AF. 7 no one knows what a god damn blinker is. 8 no one knows how to merge into traffic they just kinda creep In slowly then take their fucking time to get up to speed.9 the fishing is terrible. I could keep going but I think you get the picture. I wouldn’t even say Colorado Springs is a top 100 place to live.

We live in Denver and travel to Colorado Springs a couple times a month just to hang out. We have a couple favorite restaurants, shops, bakeries, hiking areas, etc. While we love Denver we love COS just as much, it’s absolutely beautiful, especially the older more urban parts of the city.

We literally have everything here that Denver has dude. Denver just has more of the same things because of the larger population, but there isnt really anything that stands out. Pretty much any activity you can think of from indoor skydiving, concerts, auditorium, event centers, concert arena, sports stadium, top golf, mini golf, arcades, bars, every chain restaurant, movies, malls, go cart racing, shooting, hiking, trails, mountain biking, high end gyms, a bar district we have... I would say if you are into night life and bars Denver is better oh and they have broncos stadium and a bigger indoor arena for sports like hockey abd basketball but thats sbout it.

I thought I would mention something else. Bob Womack, the man who discovered gold in Cripple Creek, lived in Colorado Springs. My maternal grandmother was a Womack and a distant cousin of Bob. The Old Colorado City area, where I live, was mainly brothels along that section of Colorado Avenue at that time. Bob Womack would get drunk, ride his horse up the steps of the brothels and end up getting arrested. It was a frequent past time of his. We've had some very colorful characters in our history.

I was born and raised in Colorado Springs and have so many connections to the sites in this video and was aware of all of them. Colorado Springs was a small town then. I remember when they built Hwy 24. Before that, our main E/W thoroughfare was Colorado Avenue. I remember when Circle Drive was built. It was in the middle of nowhere. Fillmore was a two-lane dirt road on the north edge of town. When I attended UCCS, there were only the old buildings and Dwire Hall - which had just been built. I was there when they built the library and the cafeteria and pub. I used to be friends with the caretaker at Miramont Castle. He had encounters with the ghost of a woman. She would sit on his chest at night. He told me he would wake up and not be able to breath or move. He never experienced that anywhere else but there. There is a hallway that he said was the most haunted spot in the castle. I went through it, and ended up running out of it in terror. It was just the presence in the hallway. I didn't actually see anything. I could only feel it. I also used to work at Garden of the Gods and do tours, so I knew about the dinosaur. I also used to feed the giraffes crackers, and one of my courses at UCCS gave me an unlimited pass to the zoo for research on monkeys in captivity. I used to live at the foot of the Manitou Incline and within a few feet of the Pikes Peak Cog Railway. In the 80s, a tornado came over my cottage and then went into downtown Manitou and ripped off the tops of several trees. It is the first time I experienced a tornado in Colorado. Lastly, I've always been very proud of our Nikola Tesla connection. Thanks for the video. I love my city, but I miss the small town I grew up in.

i got one for you, the same year flying w ranch burnt down the city destroyed the beloved filmore donkey house and for a darker one the worst stretch of road is academy blvd between village 7 and north carefree, for reasons that have like only 50% to do with traffic deaths, you can guess what the other half was for a second dark fact, district 11 is the only school district to have a school shooting that had someone from each high school majorly affected, took place outside of one(like literal feet from it), three of them are where the shooter and the victims were from, and the last which might be qualified as a stretch to make this a fact the teacher of one of the victims was from the last high school oh got another we got sued by the federal government for faking the making of storm drains and they still havent fixed that we used to have a toysrus the chapel hills mall has apartments in it now for some ungodly reason

I have friends who live in an old mansion next to Miramont in Manitou (the castle in this video). Don't forget about Glen Eyrie built by CS founder General Palmer which is actually in CS. I used to be the organizer for the TESLA steampunk group and some times gave lectures on Tesla. His lab in 1899 wasn't where the plaque is in Memorial park but about a half dozen blocks away on what would eventually be southeast of the corner of Kiowa and Foote. Those roads weren't there when he was there, but we were able to figure this out from the description what he could see from his lab, the D&B School, the Union Printer's Home and his lab's position from one of the only existing streets.

My family has been here since 1880. They built 3 houses on West Dale which are all still there. When I was in my early 20's (40 years ago), I lived in some apartments in Rockrimmon. A sink hole from the mine opened up in the parking lot of the apartments and swallowed a car! Around that time, there were a lot of sink holes appearing in that area. Also, there was another cave that was open to the public for a time. It's called Huckey's Cove and is in Williams' Canyon.

There is a lot of early Colorado springs history on the west side especially since thats where it all started. Spencer Penrose built the will rogers shrine of the sun above the zoo, and i think ive read hes buried there with a family friend. And on the wall there is a mural going over springs history including its time as a train hub. You used to be able to get off the train where Giuseppe's restaurant used to be, and ealk across the park to stay in the antlers hotel.

Thanks for using my comment about the cave, im a Colorado springs native, 38 years so far, but our family is looking to move somewhere warm in the next few years. Theres a bunch of interesting things about the 719 and I'll add moce as i remember them. One is there are a bunch of parks and streets here named after fallen police officers and politicians. Mark dabling boulevard is named after an officer, marksheffel road is named after a families auto company which was at one point said to be the largest garage in the world. We also had a senator named mark sheffel. Kelley Johnson boulevard is named after an aeronautical engineer who designed the sr71 blackbird and u2 spy plane. I think he graduated from the air force academy. If you go to the parks in town, the main park sign has a short paragraph about who each park is named after.

RINO's control El Paso County, and by definition Colorado Springs, and they are solidly left of center. I dwelt on Hillside area from October 1981-1989 and again June of 1997-March of 2017. The politics of the area is heading the wrong direction, largely due to the secret society system controlling party politics. Bear that in mind.
