As a former Lyonnais (long time ago) I use to live in the seventh arrondissement (south-east) right behind the back of the cameraman at the begining of this footage. At the age of 11 (1962) , I use to cross this bridge every morning to reach the Lycée Ampère Perrache that stood further down south la Place Bellecour. All this to explaine that the big enlighted monument you see at first called "Grand Hôtel-Dieu" was the very first one that has been scrapped from the black ninteenth century pollution and when I say "black", it was really dirty black and the whol historical center of Lyon was the same color. One year later my parents had to move around the west suburbs of Paris in a nice green place and compared to what I left it was for me, the former lyonnais kid, a paradise. Today, I must admit Lyon became a very anjoyable city but I kept, for a long time, the picture of some sort of a purgatory.
