I love the cuts you made. Bach would have loved them also. If you have some time, can you come by my house and remove all of the doors?

Despite the limited recording quality, this is a unique recording of one of the most talented singer (mezzo soprano), I ever had the chance to listen to. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lorraine_Hunt_Lieberson: In June 2005, Hunt Lieberson made her last appearance in Amsterdam, performing the Sellars staging of Bach's Ich habe genug. Her final public performances were given on March 16, 17, and 18, 2006, at Orchestra Hall in Chicago, in Mahler's Symphony No. 2 (Resurrection) with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Chorus,[6] conductor Michael Tilson Thomas and soprano Celena Shafer. In 2007, she posthumously received the Grammy Award for Best Classical Vocal Performance for her recording of her husband's Rilke Songs, and in 2008 won again posthumously for her performance of her husband's Neruda Songs.

I wish so badly the recording quality were better. Maria Cristina Kiehrs voice is so incredible, one of the very few that have little vibrato and sound so angelic! She is my all-time favorite.

MET should give this opera a proper set it deserves. Fire whoever designed it and never use him/her again.

I saw him, Ken Kercheval, Judy Lander, Margery Cohen, and Hal Watters in this, "From Berlin to Broadway with Kurt Weill," when I was 21 years old in 1972, and immediately bought the double LP set. this is some of the best musical theater ever recorded.

That is Bartoli! Flitting around and about the stage at full speed hair streaming. Opera is not only about singing.

God bless ROSSINI I! He was truly the Master of Merriment and elegantly hyperkinetic expressions of unrestrained Joy.and Exultation.
@thomasborgsmidt98014 жыл бұрын
Well, that is one of Levines better performances. Cecilia Bartoli is perfect for the role: 1) She has the opportunity to race about on the stage - that is simply how that woman works. Sitting still is not her thing. 2) Cenerentola comes the year after the "Barber of Sevillia" and Rossini uses the trick from the "Barber" with the jumping of "Figaro, Figaro...." Only here the mezzo has to contend with a chorus and 2 other singers. 3) This takes the massive voice of Cecilia to brush things aside at will.

Bartoli is the best Cenerentola, period.. her Houston Opera house recording on DVD with Corbelli as Dandini and Enzo Dara as Don Magnifico is absolutely masterful.

Took me 6 years to run across this video but i am glad you put it up! i've long thought this the best Cenerentola. Alaimo and Pertusi are sooooo good and of course you've got Bartoli in it, and Vargas is no slouch. ........ BUT NO, the whole thing needs to be posted!

An sich een uitstekende uitvoering; heel jammer dat je opname-apparaat de klankmassa overduidelijk niet aankan (zo gauw als de pauken erbij komen wordt de rest weggedrukt...).
