So helpful! No one has ever mentioned frequency response for different microphones before-thank you for that!❤

Great information. Love the RE20 sound. Mac

Thanks for watching! The RE20 is such a good mic. Though I think it's a better choice if you're in the US, as here in Europe it is significantly more expensive and you don't find them used. In Europe in the same price range you can get a Neumann KMS 105 or TLM 102 or just stick to an SM7B and save some money. But I just really liked the RE20 so I took the hit 😁

I noticed you shot this video in 4k. Or at least, uploaded it in 4k. Do you tend to shoot in a higher res, then compress it down to a 1080p for KZbin? I tend to do my videos with 1 camera angle, and usually zoomed out so that in editing, I can zoom in when needed. I made the mistake of shooting in 8k video and realized that a 6 minute video was 5GB and took ages to import into my editor. What are your thoughts on the in-between 1080 and 4k?

I shoot in 1080p and export in 4k to get the vp9 codec on KZbin. If the video is not too long, recording in 4k would still be reasonable, but I don't because my camera (Canon M50) loses dual pixel autofocus and has a strong crop in 4k. Recording with a wide camera angle and zooming in, has the drawback that you still have that wide lens distortion, so it won't have the same aesthetic as a 50mm focal length for example. Most mirrorless cameras now record either in 1080 or 4k, I don't recall seeing some that record in in-between resolutions. You could achieve an in-between resolution by upscaling/downscaling in editing. But if you downscale from 4k you're leaving quality behind, and if you're upscaling from 1080p you might as well upscale to 4k, especially if the videos aren't too long. Some cameras have the option to record 4k at lower bitrates, and this can be a middle ground to get 4k quality with reasonable file sizes. I hope this helps, thanks for watching.
