That was the first time I saw/heard of Rush on his TV show in a college dorm as a seminary student in early 1993.

WGN-TV Channel 9 Chicago, used these jazzy CGI open, bumpers and closes for WGN's "The Late Movie" from 1989 to 1996 using their 1983-1993 "9" logo, until a transition with a new jazzy CGI open, bumpers and close for WGN's "The Late Movie" using their 1993 "WGN" in the black bar and "9" logo, where the residents of Paris, Texas were not pleased about it.

Love this! Inez McCauley Adams was my grannie by marriage! My momma married her son, Tony, in 2006. As soon as I saw her, it almost brought me to tears! I miss sitting and talking to her and hearing all of her stories about growing up in the Cove! Some of my fondest memories are going to the cove with her and Papaw and her pointing out where all the old homeplaces stood and telling stories about things that happened in every little section of the cove! I miss her so much! RIP Grannie!

LOL @ rush limbaugh’s book ”we should use something with universal appeal…not too controversial or polarizing…hmmm, I know!” I was gonna say these were the last years you could get away with hawking something this ridiculous but that’s completely untrue. Despite the ability to research scams, the internet has STILL managed to make things 100x worse for this type of nonsense.

When my papaw was 13 he went two hollers over huntin with only his squirrel gun (20 gauge). Says he heard chains rattling and saw a black man, covered I'm chains, and smokin' like he was a'fire. His words "BLACK, NOT AFRICAN BLACK, BLACK AS PITCH. UNNATURAL BLACK." Said it didn't look like any man he ever saw. He worked with, at the time, what they called colored folk, no disrespect intended. if you worked hard you were accepted then and there. Everyone was just trying to get by. Hell we's all mixed melungeon anyhow. What he saw that day scared the bad outta him though. Went to church every Sunday afer till he passed, and never hunted the far hollows again.

I remember these shows. It is when I woke to rush in the early 90s......They were always put on real late too. 1 am or something like that so people couldnt watch. But we loved rush back then!

I'm so disappointed that I didn't know. My papaw was Noah Caughron. Groundhog road Hartford. I knew nothing about our relatives in the cove. I even lived in Cocke County. My dad's immediate family weren't very close. I knew nothing. Papaw noah died in 1984, born in 1889. I've always been proud to be a part of the Smokies..Cades cove is my favorite place and I had no idea I actually had a familial connection 😢.

It's both funny and pathetic hearing Limbaugh blast Bill Clinton for avoiding the Vietnam War when Limbaugh avoided Vietnam itself. He was, as Joe Conason once put it, a "certified chickenhawk."

I never watched Rush, as a ten year old I really wouldn't have gotten his jokes. But thankfully as a teenager I had Joe Bob Briggs, and he had a similar style to Rush. Thank you for wit and unfiltered humor, Joe Bob and Rush. 😊👍
