Given the nature of the impregnating substance, could the crease lines that you made here be eliminated by subtle ironing over a non stick baking sheet?

The punches themselves on the rotary punch are removable if you want to punch deep into something. At least mine are and the one you’re using in the video appears to be the same

Can I use the setter to make a loop that’s ever so slightly bigger than 3/8”? How wide is the setter?
@michaelseger903Ай бұрын
Two questions. What is the smallest size of belt loop one can make ie 1/2" 3/4"? using the die set to set the brass loop keepers ? Second question is what is the name of the belt style you show in the end of the video. The belt loop is attached to a piece of leather instead of being between the belt and the fold over.

What if you can't afford a press? Is there a way to use them without one?
@BuckleguycomАй бұрын
Not really. You need the press to help align the setter die and the staples. With a hand tool you couldn't align the staple prongs to the dies that bends them over accurately. You could just use the staples where you cut slits in the leather and force the prongs through the leather and bend them over with pliers! I have done that in the past.

What about adding this to an LV Crossbody Bag? I had to remove the top leather strap...so it needs to have a diff way to close now
@NMiller_Ай бұрын
It is my sincere hope to some day get tot he point where I can justify buying one of these! Skiving the turn for a belt of strap is one of my least favorite things and this makes it look so effortless to get something laser precise every time.

I had put my identical machine aside...until today. You made it look so easy and consistent - typical of someone who knows well what he/she is doing! - that I am now convinced to bring it back from the dust and give it another go. I'll sharpen its blade... just in case. I doubt I'll achieve your standard but I'll try to get better at it as I can clearly see the problem is me and not the machine! Thank you!

I am looking forward to trying out this product for my customers who have arthritis in their hands and have problems closing and opening the line 24 snaps. One question will the West Coast die thread for this Open Hole Snap work in the Ohio Travel Bag's Hand Machine T-1490? It is described as European style which I am guessing is referring to the thread style .

@@TechLeatherCraft I have been looking for these open hole snaps, Glad you have them because I could not find them anywhere. I was going to call Leatherman and see if they would tell me where they get them from. Lol! How do I purchase the Setter from your website, Does one tool work for both the 12 and 16mm? I do not have the press you all sell and the press I have is a Tandy press which is not screw on dies.

I have tried the screw on type, but when I use them with my elastic bands they come off when the elastic stretches to put them on. It comes apart in the middle where the two ends insert one to another. Is there a way to make this more stable? I like the elastic bands because buckles usually cause a rash. But I have a small wrist and not so small hands so the elastic does need to stretch a bit to get over the hand.

If you completely pull the tape apart can you still put the puller back on? Everyone just undoes and inch or so and leaves the rest zipper up. I would like to separate the tape completely sew the two sides of my purse together and then adder the zipper pull to bring it back together. Is that doable? Thanks!

Chrome tanned leather has never impressed me. Veg tanned leather However, holds up to the task the item was designed for. Each to their own, though !
@dalegaliniak6074 ай бұрын
My experience is that it tends to depend on the tannery. Good chrome is great for brighter colors and pull up, and tends to be a bit more water resistant, but doesn't age or burnish like veg tan. At least from the ones I've gotten, it tends to be softer. Especially the pull up makes it look cool in bags and jackets. If I want something that will burnish or show age more traditionally, I'll go after veg.
