I want multiple arrows moving in same path like dash. Is there a way to do that with out duplicating the arrow
@videomarknet11 күн бұрын
yes just add the 'echo' effect to the arrowhead and adjust the echo time and numbers.
@JoopZweetsok15 күн бұрын
what to do after extract? To close the cap?
@videomarknet3 күн бұрын
right click - ripple delete. But there's an even easier method...you can set in/out points and just copy/paste that part of the sequence, without compromising the clip. Just make sure no clip is selected! ...the PP will copy that area between the markers across all active layers (important) which then can be pasted somewhere else.

Another interesting difference for me; I copy and paste the path to the arrow, the motion is in the opposite direction so I need to move them manually?
@videomarknet17 күн бұрын
There's a little icon next to the path 'reverse path direction'. It depends on the order of how you actually created the path. AE doesn't know which direction you intended initially so you might have to adjust the path direction.
@TheEclecticChef-f7f17 күн бұрын
This is great and well explained and concise thank you. No filllers etc. One question; my first foray into After Effects so maybe doing something wrong. Just doing a straight horizontal line, for some reason my triangle is offset an inch or two verticall?
@videomarknet17 күн бұрын
Keep an eye on the pivot/anchor point of each asset (line and arrowhead). That's usually the reason for offset positions. Also make sure to paste into the right parameter (path). Best advice usually, since the tutorial is very short, start over and follow step by step, pause with each step to double check. It will work. Thanks for checking out my channel.
@TheEclecticChef-f7f17 күн бұрын
@@videomarknet Will do thanks for the super quick reply. I usually cannot abide watching these tutorials, so much fluff. I feel confident after subscribing I'll be able to add AE to my arsenal quickly. The reverse path helped a lot.
@TheEclecticChef-f7f17 күн бұрын
@@videomarknet Ok I almmost got what I wanted which is two horizontal arrows spreading out from center with a countup # between them. I finally got the right line/arrow working as per above. I figured I'd save time and copied the left line and then offset it on X-axis using position to put it on the right side of the center. Then I reversed the path. So now I have line expanding to the left with arrow pointing left pushed by it. I have a line expanding to the right as I desired. I thought now all I'd have to do is copy the left arrow and then copy the path from the new left line but that didn't work. Is there any other setting I need to add to the duplicated arrow to make it travel with the right line now?
@videomarknet17 күн бұрын
@@TheEclecticChef-f7f ultimately you can create one ...and then just precompose and mirror that composition. That would probably be the easiest thing to do now. Remember this is supposed to be a quick method with limited control. Anything beyond that would still require some parenting and expressions. But when both sides are identical (just different directions) precomposing might be a good idea.
@TheEclecticChef-f7f17 күн бұрын
@@videomarknet Thanks, I got it to work with both sides. Super helpful, saved the day! :)

@@cmscss not with this technique. It's meant to be the easiest way to create this. For such a rig (update path) you'd need a slightly different approach.

I find the solution to the problem of the arrow and line out of sync, you need to hit the U key to see all the keyframes from both shapes, then just drag the last keyframe of the arrow shape to the same last keyframe of the line shape, and thats it!

Dose this work with rotation too? cuz i cant rotate the object with the pan behind tool. it works fine for positioning but how to rotate the object while keeping the mask still
@videomarknetАй бұрын
You can't rotate with the pan tool as it's intended to...well...just pan around. But since Adobe implemented the function that layer mattes can be accessed from any layer this technique is not as important anymore. So in order to rotate I'd work with a shape and set that as a layer mask / matte
