Gracias.

I can't recall a specific example of this happening to me but I know this has happened to me where someone just repeated my position back to me and I felt instantly calmer. I've seen myself do it to others when I would simply say "I hear what you're saying" and when I would say that I could feel the tension diffuse.

Sorry. I get the overall message so that’s good for me but this was one of the most painful videos to watch in my old age. I told my coach that I’d never watch this again! Comparing raisins??!!

If you didn’t agree with the propaganda in 2020/21, and chose bodily autonomy, or you were coerced to give that up, and suffered injury, you were discarded from society, and there were no helpers. You were vilified, gaslit and even denied medical help

The young men who commit atrocities as soldiers in foreign wars deserve compassion because they were sent to distant lands to carry out foreign policy by the war machine, by powerful people who knew full well the soldiers would likely succumb to committing atrocities against civilians because it happens in all wars. These powerful people knew the soldiers would be traumatized by their experiences and that they were too young and too brainwashed to have consented to participate in the war project to begin with. Still it's always veterans (mostly men) who are held up for compassionate consideration as opposed to the supposed "enemy" who they were sent there to conquer and kill for the war machine's profit. As opposed to the children and villagers who sold them out to the supposed "enemy" to begin with. We are so selective with our compassion. Vietnam vets deserve compassion as much as anyone, but isn't it interesting that we throw around the concept of the "enemy" without a second thought EVEN IN A MINDFULNESS TALK ABOUT COMPASSION as though it's part of the air we breathe. What makes the north Vietnamese the enemy of US soldiers in south Vietnam? Can we legitimately use anecdotes about veterans of foreign wars without an analysis of what the US war machine (powerful people with no conscience) sent these young men and women over there to do? And why? (Consider the irony of preaching Buddhism in this context when the war atrocity in this anecdote took place in a Buddhist country. 🤯) Do better Palouse. Do better Shauna Shapiro. Have compassion for your own shortcomings here and then do better. Peace. ✌

I love the fact that after I was introduced to mindfulness in 2010, I often come back to start the Palouse 8 week course that I never seem to complete because I feel so good after a few weeks and give up on completion. I'm going to start again and I'm determined this time to complete it in full. Mindfulness practice is one of the best things i have discovered in life. Keep up the excellent work.
