@@przemekprzemek8077 you have to Beat the Arena from the new skalmar Region. The other subclass unlocks at lev.15.

@@alfarabi73 in General: the best builds are the one that generates the Most fun for you while playing. There is No reason to Play a Statisticly stronger build, If you allready enjoy your current one.

@@alfarabi73 i think the swordmaster subclass is the worst of the 4. brutes are Overall better because of the powerfull skilltree. All mercs are immune to DOT effects If you use the immunity oil and immunity beltgear

@@Ausonis Thanks; I will likely switch the Swordmaster for the Smasher then. Yeah, I know you can double-up the immunities, but that's 2 valuable slots. (But then, Swordman lose a valuable skill slot to get it, so...)

Pirates dlc, i think you can buy the recepie to craft them

from Belerion DLC. dont know the loot spot, but you find it if you complete the region

Okay, you do mention that you won't repeat the experiment with a Swordsman, but if you were, to how would the build be? Also, to my knowledge there is no sword that heals. So how to compensate there?

@@alfarabi73 i think a swordsmen build lookes like: Protector, valorous duel, bulwark, master opportunist, second weapon, class spec: Duellist instinct. the armourset is the same + heater shield. weapon and armourlayer depend on the situation: need more dmg --> crit build with Defenders falchion (gain riposte on crit) oil: +15% AoO dmg and +10% crit dmg use the +15% crit hit armourlayers to reach the 100%. and use the "spare buckles" beltgear to regain the 5 movement. second weapon (with AoE or double attack) with strenght and shield oil if you need more tankyness --> fire build with gladius of the fire (AoE weapon, if it hits 2or more set the ground on fire) Oil: strenght and shield swap duelist instict with hardcore training. use the +40 armour layers and use the "blinding glare" beltgear to ignore gurad. second weapon: strongblade with +15% AoO dmg and +50% dmg vs burning targets

@@Ausonis Brilliant, my friend! I don't know what Spare Buckles does - or where I can get it. Remember, I am still a newb! ;) By the way, does Deflection stack with either Rivalry or Protection? Wouldn't that give you 100 percent mitigation or close to it?

@@alfarabi73 all effects with different names apply in a confusing Order at the Same time but dont "Stack". You cant reach 100% DMG reduction. My observation is: If you have 70% DMG reduction and 30% DMG reduction:. 100 Dmg - (70% of 100)=30 30 Dmg -(30% of 30) ~10 You Take 10dmg. Or 100dmg -(30% of 100)=70 70dmg - (70% of 70) = 21 You Take 21 Dmg. I dont know the Order. But that is Important for the result. In my experience: buffs Trigger First. Passive stats second.

you need more Armour then the target To get the crit from overwhelming presence. In this build i Run medium Armour (less Armour to beginn with) and the +30 strenght Armourlayer. Those layer decrese the Armour value as well. That why overwhelming presence whould be inconsistent or only for the First AoO before your Armour Drops to Low.

@@alfarabi73 the only reason to restart whould be to Change to adaptive and to Change your troops General starting buff/ debuff. These are the only Things you cant Change in a current campain

Retaliation build Brute´s and Swordsman are in general S-tier. they solo carry the battlefield and also the arena. They are so good in all aspects of the game, that you dont need other classes. but its also pretty boring and thats why i showcase some alternative builds and playstyles. You can combo this Ranger build with a Swordsmen (fighter class). 1. Attack with the special skill from Swordsmen (Destabilising Strike), followed by a basic attack that applys bleeding 2. Position Ranger behind the boss: basic attack + special attack. Most of the time, this should be enough. You can also use the Behedite's Kris (Grinmeer Tomb). This weapon deals 100% bonus dmg VS isolated enemies, therefore good in boss fights. If you want a solo boss killer: I recomand a Pugilist. I planed to do a purgalist guide anyway :)

@@Ausonis Thanks! I hate Pugilists though. Bad role-play ;) I am level 10, and I've yet done any bosses or arena because I am scared of the huge HPs on enemies. I think I will wait till level 12 ;)

short answer: swordmen Fighter/Duellist and Brute Destroyer long answer: I define "Strenght" like this: In how many combat aspacts of the game is the class outstandingly useful. The general checklist is: 1. pure power/ number of attacks to kill 1 enemy 2. number of enemies that can be defeated per turn 3. vp positve or neutral 4. survivability of counterattacks 5. defense of allies 6. strenght vs all enemy types 7. strenght/ consistency from start of game to endgame 8. movement/ range 9. complexity/ error penalty for bad movement/ placement 10. Boss fight carry/ solo swordmen and brutes fulfill all 10. campared to the bowmen which only is above average in point 1, 3,5 and 8. If you decrese the difficulty settings the swordmen and brutes are even stronger. but the archer keeps his power sealing. (sadly). They still have a spot at the campfire. they are the best to hunt down/ finish off scattered enemys.

@@alfarabi73 well, 1. all of these builds are dependent "attacks of opportunity" (AoO). these were nerfed from 100% bonus damage to 75% bonus damage on 03.10.2025. they are still the best and hit like a truck. But i am still testing and maby consider some other options and build choices. 2. these classes dominate the wartales "meta" since release. not boring but i wanted to bring other classes into the spotlight first. 3. i simply haven't found the time yet :)

Yes and no. Depending on the difficulty settings. the cutthroat (in hard mode) has 3 problems. 1. the ability scales worse with the DEX value. this leads to less damage. (even "wrath" deals more dmg) 2. the ability requires 3VP and cant repay itsself (realisticly) 3. it is a melee ability. you need an adjacent opponent. The build needs to stack up dmg and crit from bravery and lucky charm to make the throwing knifes deadly. The Frenzy skill is basicly another knifethrow from a dmg perspective. But you need to start the engine with some guaranteed kills. Just 1 heavy guard/ footmen in your way is enough to soak 5-6 knifes. you need the burst dmg from assassin’s blade to pick them out first. also the assassin’s blade synergized with "aim" and the daggers main attack. you appy bleed and the assassin’s blade deals double the dmg. That allows you to kill tanky boss mobs(arena/pits) and bears/ ghostpack etc. therefor its more flexable. Some opponets have a hardcounter trait or powerfull counter (shield). enemies with that trait trigger a AoO if they are hit by a crit in melee range. the ranger whould die pretty fast, if you use frenzy on them. personally, i think it's better if you can consistently beat 5-7 opponents and in special cases even more and also not dependent on an abundance of vp. At a certain point it's more useful to be flexible than to get more kills.

So I have one more question: do you know if, when resetting a character's stats, I can reassign all the bonus points I earned during gameplay? I want to try out your build and am wondering if it’s better to find a new mercenary or if I can safely reset the stats of the one I already have. I won’t lose anything on a reset, right?

@@Fircjusz the Reset only effects the "skilltree". You dont get the Attribute Points back. But it remembers the skillbook upgrades.

Leider bin ich so unbegabt in der Videobarbeitung. Sonst hätte ich zu allem was es in Wartales zu wissen gibt schon einen Guide erstellt :) Das meiste was man sonst so im Internet findet is leider schon veraltet oder unvollständig

Buffs from food, armor layer, oils, path progress, legendary helm stamps and belt gear. Also all of them have 100%+ on the Attribute crit hit. Therefore All attacks are allways crits.

@@sera6680 sadly i faced the same Problem. If you completed 100% of the Game: the only way to find the shield is via Bounty. Dont recomend it. The last good opportunity is with the path quest that leads you into the chest room of the curch. If you fail the lockpicking, you Trigger a guard. Even with the map campain completed, it will be a inqisition guard. Its still a grind. The right enemie typ has to spawn and you need to be lucky to loot it. Also evry attempt cost you ~10 lockpicks. Some food improve item droprate of items up to 20%. Thats all i know.

​@@sera6680 it still cost rescources. I think its more efficient to use a trade route to Farm gold and stop at all taverns to Check 4 recruits. But in the end, it does not matter. The benefit of a perfect rolled merc is basicly not noteable.

@@Ausonis agree with your point, but the way I play this game is not chasing meta to clean up battlefield in one turn. I try to get some thick skin trais coz my party full of heavy tank. Also thick skin provide 3% more guard is unoticeable but u know, OCD torture me lol
