I found it very hard to do but found an very easy solution to it. Instead of trying to rotate both hands in different directions and thinking about both directions at the same time I just concentrated to to move my index fingers towards each other. Like I tried to hit bot of them together but I just "miss" by 1-2 cm. That is easy to do right? You just have to move one hand forwards and one backwards. Now ... as soon as the past each other both of them go down and my mind switches to "I want to almost hit them again" the arms to all the work automatically. Just concentrate on the one point in space where you "almost hit" and it becomes very easy. Don' even look at your hands while they are doing the circling :D

This is how I was able to accomplish it as well.... Just change the way you think about the task at hand (pun). Instead of thinking about doing two different things at the same time you've got to reduce it into one single thing that both hands are working to achieve together. I feel like I am able to apply this type of problem solving mindset to many different situations in life. When I find myself doing something I do not enjoy doing I try to consider the possibility that my perception of what I'm doing is causing me to not enjoy it and if I can somehow think about it differently than I can reshape my mind and create a more positive attitude toward what I'm doing and then as a result I am able to increase my performance and productivity for these type things that I dread doing... So much of life is about perception.

I came across the challenge to twirl fingers in opposite directions. I got to being able to do my arms with my fingers out and now I can do my wrists. Not just my fingers yet. Its a great adhd activity and being 44yo I imagine its good for my brain. The square and circle drawing wasn't why I was here but it was pretty easy but not perfect.

I think that the extrapolation with intent in selection of these animals is a bit over the top. To say that they select the males with this feature because it’s a handicap and it indicates perseverance with survival is purely conjecture. It makes more sense to assume that the selection is aesthetically based and purely adheres to the runaway model.
@GastonFlemal
@GastonFlemal 13 күн бұрын
I completely agree, I kinda feel that the handicap theory is used to give an utility to carracteristic that would not have any otherwise. We like to think that every feature of an animal is there for a reason and is usefull to the species, but not necessairely. The run away model give an explaination in which the peacock tail is useless to the species
@onehitta7892

@GastonFlemal Exactly. In no way would a member of the opposite sex look at the characteristics that don't have utility and go, "wow. I definitely want my offspring to have that."

Holy crap I can do many things with both hands but moving my hands/fingers in opposite direction feels almost impossible. Left hand can do it fast but if I try match speed with my right hand I end up doing same thing with both hands. The brain is so weird

If your fingers are rotating in opposite directions while pointing to each other; if you point them towards yourself then they'll be rotating in the same direction. Try pointing your fingers twords your chest and practice by rotating them in the same direction. This will help trick your brain into being able to do it. But BEWARE once you can do it typing becomes very difficult as I'm just now learning 😂😂

The tail doesn't say 'come and eat me' to predators. It's exactly the opposite. It helps to scare away predators because it makes the peacock look larger and frightens them with the many eye shaped patterns on the tail.
@alister5384
@alister5384 7 ай бұрын
says who ? the peacock predator doesnt think like an insect, the way a spider would get scared by another spider showing its legs up. It may be a reason why evolution chose the peacock tails but definitely not worth the disadvantage

@@alister5384 It's the same reason why the Greeks put mohawks on their helmets and many tribal warriors wear feathers on their head. It's intimidating and distracting and makes the person seem larger, without actually spending the calories to grow and sustain a larger body.

@@alister5384 Peacocks can still fly to evade predators if necessary, so the tail is really only a minor inconvenience.

This does not immediately hamper the survival of the species, since even if 90% of the males die from their handicap, the females can still have the same number of offspring. But it could lead to a runaway effect where females care about some handicapped trait, like feather color, even though the trait no longer has any survival value. E.g. the parasite that damaged feather color has died off. Eventually enough of these can accumilate to cause the species to become terribly unadapted to their environment and die off. You could say that the goal of maximizing survival slowly gets over taken by the goal of maximizing attractiveness, even at the cost of weakening the species

I don't know where did you get that version of Cortes, obviously you don't know a dam about pre Hispanic history, first, I guess you don't know there is no hurricanes in Spain right, so that was something unknown for them, they had to learn in the hard way, loosing galleons completely loaded with their supplies for the whole journey and most probably that's what happened that time, if not what could be his plan, fight with lower number against the Aztecs and then what? just be wiped by the eagle warriors? (yes, the Spanish the had gun pounder but do you have a clue how inaccurate is a musket vs a well trained hunter with a bow and a few arrows? musket it was for the typical European war with the enemies a front of each other in lines to increase possibilities of hitting someone, but that was the not the case for the pre Hispanic native American warriors, second, the Aztec monarchy they were white European looking, so that's why they were received like important people assuming they must be from another monarchy or kingdom, third, the Spanish hey never fought against the Aztecs alone, they made alliances with the Aztecs enemies/rivals in order to have enough numbers, fourth, the Europeans brought the flu and so many diseases unknown for the native Americans so most of them died because of that, fifth, If you don't know what are you talking about STFU.
