I have seen some people use 5w30 oil does it matter if you use this or 10w40

5w40 is more "liquid", therefore, there may be issues, because 80s car engines have different tolerances and were designed for more viscous oil.

IF you know them, they are quite good. They got the ir bad reputation due to automatic choke. Just replace it with manual one and be happy!

I passed my test in one of these. The clutch was so heavy, my leg used to shake when waiting at traffic lights. I daren't put it in neutral in case i could find the correct gear when setting off.

It is not necessary, because in the factory noone does this. Also, there are engines where filter is fitted horizontaly (like Fords CVH).

@@cloverwheels5987 cool, I do have an issue wirh my golf mk2 1.6 TD. It likes to burn oil and there is no smoke when the engine runs although it does smoke when it first starts up! My oil is 10w40 , should I get 15w40 instead?

@@AutodidactEngineer It depends on climate where you drive. If you have a pretty hot climate, 15w40 would be better. Looks like that you car starts to eat oil when engine is cold and tollerances are different. Our cars are getting older, and so they are wearing out.

Interesting point of view, never heard of such name for these alloys. For most of Escort owners and fans, these are "cloverleaf". Even google search proves it. :)

@@PaulWilky-x6r anyway, it's quite interesting historical fact. Officially, there are no any specific name (bochures, parts catalogue). These name come from people imagination and interpretation. In post-Soviet area, these alloys are called differently too, but still, even here they mostly associate with clover leaf. :)

Love the MK1 Sierra look. My Godfather had one in the mid 90's he loved it. Sadly it didn't took of in UK because of the body shape. But in Germany, it was hit. It outsold Taunus 2 to 1
