It looks like it has more pigment but the blush technique on the right side of my face makes you look slimmer!

It actually doesn't... The side you're holding the brush with looks more plump. With your face shape the first side is much more defined, your hollow is nicely carved as well. For a different face shape it could work. Not every technique is for every face.
