The new AC games really took away the assassin part in more ways than one. Mirage returns to form but feels less satisfying compared to the earlier games like with Ezio and Arno.

As much as I dislike ubisoft, this ain’t it chief. Realism in games is overrated. Gameplay is king. I don’t want to play climbing simulator watching my character take 30 mins to climb a building just because it’s “realistic”, god forbid I fall down and have to do it all over again.

Respectfully You're not right about Valhalla I've been in many situations when it comes to climbing and one you need the hand holes just pay attention and stop being biased I know this because I have 100+ hours in Valhalla

What about the big immersion breaker. Fatigue or the lack thereof. Even if you could throw yourself in these leap jumps, you would eventually fatigue. Nobody could do that more than a handful of times without completely shredding their muscles.

AC moving forward needs to find a middle ground. The newer games have really opened up the world, so moving fast can be great, but obviously some things that made the originals great has been lost.

Hello guys! For nearly a decade I only played og AC games (all before origins) and hated the new type of AC games. A week ago I bought AC Odyssey on a sale for just like 17€. Played it and even tho much of the spirit of og ac is gone I actually like that you can go all in but also use stealth (I only use stealth and try to avoid big fights if possible). The world is just well done and especially the navy stuff is wild. Do you agree or not?

Having to figure out paths and pick your movements on the spot really made you *feel* like an actual climber. The new games take away everything fun out of the parkour. I personally prefer the slower more realistic approach of the AC1 (even though the parkour in my project is a bit faster my goal is to make it still require thought and planning to get the best effect!)

I started with Odyssey at the suggestion of my now ex partner. I’m now playing in historical order (KZbin spoiled the plot for me anyway I already know about Desmond and 2012 etc etc) and just finished Brotherhood. Gotta say…so far for me Odyssey has the biggest mic drop and imo some of the better writing of the series (although my opinion might change as I get further into the series…I’m also at a disadvantage because I’m running a PS4 and don’t have the money for a new/used console to play AC1)

In these days almost every game is like for kids.. easy, fast, undetailed and unrealistic.. for example night scenes; they are so goddamn bright why? I know this is a video game but some of us don't want to play sekiro, elden ring etc. type boss fight challenges only.. need other challenges too I want to not able to see properly at nights, otherwise there is no need for day/night circle.. I want to climb buildings a little bit hardly, otherwise there is no importance of being an assassin and come from the top for assassinate.. kick the door and kill everyone with a normal fight.. AC games lost it's spirit sadly that is a fact..

I dont subscribe to the Ezio was poisoned theory. The guy next to him was very likely a Templar (or a manifestation of the reaper) who likely was there to end Ezio. But seeing that Ezio was at Death's door anyway, and out of some level of respect for Ezio's legend, decided to leave him be and let him have a moment of peace in his final moments (a final look at his wife and daughter) Altair's death will never not bring a tear to my eye. After the life he had, it warmed my heart to see he died in peace. Ezio finding his remains was a beautiful moment as well ❤

I think to make the best parkour system for the series so that it’s fun, but still requires thought would be to blend ac1 and unity, give us the realism of 1 with the control for up, down, and across as unity, and give us the leap jump, except implement a stamina system for climbing that prevents its continuous use; and requires that it’s a manual input. (Basically taking a small page out of botw without becoming Spider-Man)

Brotherhood was my first (and favourite) AC game, i played 7 others between that and AC 1 so when i tried climbing with Altair, it kinda felt terrible for me. I eventually got used to the slow climbing and I'm glad the game doesn't force you climbing with stuff like lairs or tombs with puzzles and shit. One thing i particularly raged over in AC1 was how you couldn't just stretch and grab the extended wooden beams where you sync viewpoints instead you had to come from the sides and get on em (and that's why you should play older games first so you'd appreciate the upgrade and not complain about the "downgrades"). Still prefer the parkour in the Ezio games compared to the Kenways, the Leprechaun and the Templar lover boy sha. Despite them being more fluid and having tons of new and random animations compared to the previous entries (shout out to the directional roll drop from 3 to rogue), it feels good being in control of how you climb and parkour round stuff, i mean I'm surely not alone when i say trying to get Arno to enter a window was kind of a chore, press L2/LT to enter a window my ass. At some point the game didn't let you fuck up during parkour anymore. For me i liked the feeling of thinking "can i make this jump" and if it failed! eyes sharp and finger ready to tap the grasp button just in time. Also liked the Chronicles games parkour, not so much comparably, but still enjoyed them. Reminded me of the good ol java games
