Look I’m a David Too. I feel that they should rerelease the Capitol Years from the early 2000s on compact Disc( I would put it in an lp box set format like the Revolver box or Sgt Pepper box). However I just don’t understand Calderstones/AppleCorp/VBeatlesinc marketing strategy it’s a mystery.

I have an early 80s stereo uk press. From what I read it’s identical to the 70s press you reviewed because it stayed in print for a few years. I can confirm it sounds fantastic! Bass doesn’t sound bloated and the guitars (especially in ‘and I love her’) sound very rich and detailed!

David if you want to hear a worse sounding pressing than the ones you have there. Try the hdn deagostini copy, according to my mate the sound keeps dropping out and the beatles sound as if there singing through a drain pipe. I don't know about that my copy is still shrink rapped

I find that Capitol Albums on cassette far more interesting. The mixes were different. I'll Get You, She Loves You, and Thank You Girl are the last three songs on The Beatles' Second Album on side two on the cassette. I recreated that with the U.S Albums boxset in mono on CD.

So this was very useful! I was going through my dad's records and I saw this and thought the back looked odd. It looked like there was a sticker over the back of the cover. I knew Yesterday and Today had a sticker on its cover, so I wanted to see if something similar had happened with an older album. That led me to Wikipedia which showed there were two versions of "Introducing...the Beatles" I didn't know what version I had if it was a rare album just casually sitting in a record cabinet or not, but thanks to this, I can confirm it's not. Looks like Dad only paid $1 for it, so it's not a big loss.

Thank you David, great video as always ❤️ I have this box set; I bought it last year but I couldn’t afford the Vinyl version so I picked it up on Cassette very reasonably- and it sounds great; very clear and punchy - much better than I was expecting actually. My mid-90s Sony hi-fi is connected to my iMac as I rip all my CDs into iTunes for convenience (my record player is also connected to this). It’s a bit temperamental with these older cassettes so I recorded the tapes into Audacity and created digital files which I then imported into iTunes (basically like a needle drop but with cassettes) - I have to say it sounds even better now - I think because iTunes has a nice adjustable EQ - and I don’t have to worry about the tapes breaking or changing them, so it just plays as long playlist:) I would definitely recommend to anyone who wants this set but maybe can’t afford or can’t find the Vinyl, the Cassettes make a good option as this set does contain some unique mixes. Also David, according to the Steve Hoffman audiophile forum, you should have a lovely-sounding pressing there. I’m looking forward to your review 😊 Sorry for such a long comment. Take care and stay safe 🙏

Back in the UK, in 1965 the tax code was KT, it's usually embossed into the centre of the record near the centre spindle hole , this code denotes the cost, which was 32/6 ,pre decimal currency, which was alot of money for a young person to fork out , the younger folk had Dansettes or similar suitcase style auto- changer players which were primarily mono reproducers , only the older better off people had quality gear like dynatron or garrard players, so to find a really good UK original is a very difficult task because the kids played these records to death using the old flip type carts which were mostly sapphire stylus, but no one back in 1965 was giving any credence to how sought after these pressings would be in 40, 50, 60, years time.

There have always been and will be only the UKs issues taken for originals. The US issues are not even copies in view of sound quality, false mono mastering, covers and, last but not least, numbers of songs of each of the albums due to US tax reasons. On top,the forthcoming issue of the Capitol box seems to be just a money grab.

I think the way most people experienced Beatlemania around the world was with the original UK pressings, with some exceptions such as these US releases. Hearing the release date of 22nd of November, it is a very significant date in Beatles history. For one, with the Beatles was released on this date in 1963. Secondly- the first time the Beatles were shown on US TV was in the early morning hours of the 22nd of November 1963. It was a news broadcast that was doing a segment on this new phenomenon in England that went by the name of the Beatles. Not sure if it was CBS or NBC that showed it, you can look for it here on KZbin. Story goes that they were supposed to show it again in the evening news if not for an even bigger news- the assassination of president John F Kennedy. I’ve never been interested in these US releases to be honest, I kinda see them like i would see any import album that releases their own version of an album. To me is UK all the way. That being said , i have bought the meet the Beatles blue vinyl cos i collect color vinyl. Great video btw.

Most definitely, I will not be purchasing this new vinyl boxed set at any time at all. However; if I had to actually select just one of these reissues for any reason whatsoever, then it would have to be The Beatles' Second Album. Reason being is because this particular album release has, without a doubt, the finest track listing of any of 1964 albums released by Capitol. The eleven songs are comprised of a truly great assortment of original compositions mixed in with several excellent cover tunes, making the listening experience a really rocking good time to be had by all. The result is a real Rock and Roll album that everyone can enjoy!

Mono? Oh you misguided people! Capitol Full Dimensional Stereo is the only way these should be played! Use good quality headphones and you can hear every instrument and see how good the early Beatles really were. Same things with the Beach Boys Capitol FDS albums.
@richardblayneamerican8149Ай бұрын
I disagree. Some of the early stereo tracks are 'stereo fold-down' with heavy reverb and sound awful. And "with headphones"? when you have vocals and instruments separated? My old mono copies sound great. But to each their own. Peace.✌️

The box set is way out of my budget, but following what you and others have said, if I can afford to, I’d like to maybe get a copy of Meet The Beatles at least - I love With The Beatles. In the U.K. we’re apparently being offered a HMV exclusive blue vinyl of Meet The Beatles? 🤔 Regarding where these records are being pressed - if it’s MPO in France, that should be good news - I’ve got a couple of the Deagostini pressings of the stereo remasters and they are very nice. I'd have thought the mono pressings would have been out of print since the late 1960s. America was quite an early adopter of stereo, certainly before us here in the UK. Even over here they stopped releasing mono albums in 1969 until the 2014 Beatles in Mono set.
@collectingbeatles101Ай бұрын
@ianz9916 you're right... I thought of that afterward, I should have clarified that these mono pressings have been out of print for almost 60 years, but the albums themselves have been out of print since the mid 80s.

I'd love if they did a US Albums Vol. 2 LP set, with the rest of the unique Capitol albums, but in stereo this time. That would include the US "Rarities" album from 1980, which would take care of most of them. But, songs like "From Me To You" and "I'm Down" would still be missing.

I have heard some people say that they’re buying these US Capitol albums purely for nostalgia so I understand where they’re coming from. I read that Dave Dexter did not like the Beatles and so he didn’t do as good a job with their music as he would other artists’ from the states and so their sound suffered because of it. Sound wise , the UK is the best mostly because when it was sent to other countries, the quality of sound changed because of it, This happened in every country around the world. That’s why when you put any foreign LP against the UK originals, the UK will always have better quality. I’m taking back in the day, nowadays you can have the same UK quality in any country and that is why when the capitol albums were released on CD in 2004, they used the UK original source rather than the US. I would also like to add that the reason why the US got singles onto albums is- first of all, the US albums are essentially compilation albums. Meaning they are drawn from various sources, as in the case of meet the Beatles which was sourced from the first album, the second album and singles. So it was not a straightforward LP. Secondly- the Beatles had a policy of never putting singles onto albums. The reason being they wanted to give their fans their money’s worth. So they would put regular songs on the albums and then write songs specifically for the singles market. I am buying the meet the Beatles album but only because it’s being released on blue vinyl as a limited edition and i love colored vinyl. I do agree that for collecting purposes you should buy the US capitol records, bu then, you should probably also buy the Japanese, Mexican, Italian, French, Argentinian etc versions cos as you said, they all have different album covers and track listings, i for one have always been intrigued by the Canadian version of with the Beatles, it has a very cool looking album cover. Great video btw.
