got a cheating story for you: Back in 2012 at my local meet up we used to have a 40k tournament once a year. After attending a couple of years i started noticing a lot of descrepancies in the score sheets, so i started recording all the ones i could find. turns out the TO was adding additional points to his son's, and his best friends score cards after the games had been played. i looked at the score sheets that the TO had on his PC and the ones i had photos of and those 2 peoples score cards never matched; and people they didnt want to win who we knew were good players scored considerably lower than they should have. SO they were clearly editing scores... Turns out a friend and i uncovered that they were taking everyones tournament entry money and just using it to purchase themselves models as prizes for the tournaments, the club didn't last much longer than that once every one else who used to enter put 2 and 2 together.

Back when apocalypse templates were a thing I played in a tournament where they were banned in the rule pack One of the TO’s played in the tournament and he also brought 3 khorne chariots which if fired together shot an apocalypse blast He said it was ok because they weren’t “armed with it” and the rule pack specified that models couldn’t be armed with it. His first opponent quit on turn 1 of round 1 because he didn’t want to play in a tournament run like that so the TO didn’t get to play either!

Hmm, comon law lawyer here but not from UK. The criminal damage act says a person can use the defense of trying to protect your property or the property of another. Which is a type of self-defense in a way. It seems section 76 of the criminal and justice act put the elements for a justify use of force. So basicly, if the force use by the guy was reasonable in the circonstance and that it was necessary the defense should apply. Basicly, show up with the receipt for the 5000$ titan and how rare they are, and he should have a good chance to be out of this....but it depends how hardcore he went For the second point, sadly from what I see no criminal charges can be done against children under 10. The curfew isn't bad. Since it is 9am to 6pm. If the child doesnt respect it and is found out and about he will get a child safety order which they get supervise. If again they fail, the court could take the child under their care. But I would go for a lawyer and check under the Tort law. As it could lead to being able to ask the judge to wait up to 6 years before the child can now pay for the damages.

In every jurisdiction you have to be in reasonable fear of death or great bodily harm to use a weapon in self defense. Gonna be a hard sell when your “attacker” is 9 😂

Crazy thing is i hear of things like this all the time. Couple months back im sitting on bus minding my own, bunch of nippers same age sat at the back, one comes up "Oi Mate gimme your hat!". I say no and laugh like WTF! He then goes "Wot you gonna do if i steal it?"......My response " I can throw you down the stairs if you like?!" He seemed suprised someone had answed his attitude back. Had a mate few years back working in a pub, its a rural area so no security, around 10.30 pm a group of ten kids walk in, he asks them to leave, they start kicking of throwing glasses round the pub. The staff had to just wait there 20mins for the cops to arrive, meanwhile the kids walk off and nothing comes in it. Another incident i had, { admittedly it was hull! } half eleven at night im the passenger another mate driving, city center so luckily-ish he was only doing 30 but suddenly bunch of young kids on bikes all in dark clothing cut across the flow of traffic force him to brake...... To top it off they didnt even aknowledge they'd nearly been hit and there was a crossing point 20meters down the street. Shook my mate up, but i think if i had been driving i'd have just hit em say sorry i didnt see you... Teach em to look next time. Problem is EVEN if the police turn up, they tell them not to do it again and no repercussions, so they and their mates feels free to do whatever they want. TBH these days i have a very short patience and probably would batter the little sh*ts, yes i would get in trouble but, their parents have probably never raised a hand to them.

The issue is that competitive 40K is played by non competitive players. So the rules for competitive hurt non-competitive players and makes a screen to protect cheaters.

Defined penalties is a very good idea. I do believe when going to a tournament it is the players responsibility to know their own rules. I'd like to on BCP or any other organisation start recording a player's points taken away or yellow / red cards received. I think this would both players and TO's. I.e. John smith has attended six tournaments in six months all with CSM this year and made rules mistakes six times so as a judge I am not giving him the benefit of the doubt and I will take away points not give a warning. As I can recognise he has not improved in keeping the game straight and this is a regular faction he plays. Not he played Orks for five and this is his first time with CSM so maybe I give a warning and not take points away. Likewise I am playing against John Smiths CSM I can see he has made four mistakes on his data sheets and two on his general rules in the last two months. Perhaps I should have a look over his data sheets or feel more confident in questioning certain abilities.

If you make a rules mistake there should be a points deduction... no need to speculate if it's accidental or deliberate.

For me when something like this is suggested, my go to is "how would Mani abuse this?". You give him a position in which to dock points off an opponent, you think he wouldn't use it? How would his game vs John Lennon have gone if this was in place?

Tyranids and cp reduction/audition and making opponent strats more expensive. (Hive Tyrants). They have good resources too. Spread, missions , lots of units… etc…

Its bad game design if a player has to help their opponent in order for the game to be civil and enjoyable. Its counter to a competitive game

The Damsel bit made me curious. Can you default back to Battle Magic signature spell hammer hand if you already get the regen spell from Lore of the Lady. My assumption was that even if you have multiple options from different lores you can only change to one signature spell.

I loath board games as they are too complex and reward the rules nerds. I want a wargame where the key decisions are which units to field and how to use their strengths on the battlefield to achieve victory. This game is far too complex. I’m a new player and I haven’t even bothered playing mission cards yet and it boggles my brain. I’ve had more fun playing One Page Rules if I’m honest.

I have played 40k on and off, mostly because of the toxic phases that 40k has. 10th Ed has unfortunately lost a lot of the fluff and flavour, but I have to agree it's one of the most fun/balanced editions. Perhaps also the fact that there has been a shift in player mentality too.

Great video. Great points. I’ve been playing 40k on and off since 1994 … they do this every edition. Pick the rules/edition you prefer and don’t switch editions just because corporate pushes it.

No pregame display of the units and models is disappointing. It helps to see and put context to the overhead view.

Regarding screening and deepstrikes. Its an obvious rule bloat when you can deep strike but then you cant deepstrike bc of screens. The rules contradicting each other was a nightmare of 9th ed. Because you need to remember 2 rules just to remember that neither of them are working and you eill be better off just getting a bigger horde without any rules that will cancel each other...

A hex based system would be so much better for a tighter rule set. The sloppy play is frustrating.
