Richard Diebenkorn’s painting “Girl with Cups “ was painted in 1957 in his rented Berkeley CA studio at 2571 Shattuck Avenue above a VW Store. The building’ windows face out directly west. The building has no upoer floor windows facing north.

Thank you for posting that. It was brilliant! I would love to see more videos like this as I find it so interesting and helpful. Also I loved Ken Howard’s painting . Must look at his website.

Matisse will have done years of drawing to have the facility to be able to make his fluid line drawings. He may well have had several attempts. Not just the hand eye coordination, spatial awareness and visual perception would be highly developed.

I'm not convinced by Kit Wood's paintings. Ben Nicholson seemed to rate him, so he must have had something about him.

Someone told me to forget about colour, just concentrate on tone, back to basics. I still have to remind myself.

I went to an exhibition of WN at Nottingham University a few years ago. It was a real treat. I love her paintings. She has her own rules, vision.

There's nothing laboured about Matisse. It all looks free and spontaneous.

Interesting to observe the use of cool and warm colours. The view outside looks interesting. Shame to be indoors. I agree about photographs ... the death of observation. Great video.

Merci. THANKS. Splendor and poetry in light, which seems to translate this unspeakable love for Bonnard, to the point of surprising Marte who would still be alive... Yes these paintings are alive. I really appreciate your work, Alice. It makes me want to live with my eyes given over to beauty. Looking forward to meeting you, happiness at home. Jeuc Dietrich
